On her first day she looked at her knee and asked, "What have I done?"
Today she walked out the door and doesn't need us anymore. 🎓
When she first came in, she was scared and anxious. She'd dealt with several patellar dislocations, and this surgery was a big one: a tibial osteotomy, patellar tendon reconstruction, and MPFL reconstruction, all at once.
Day 1 was about making a plan. Get the knee bending. Get it all the way straight. Get the quad to fire. Small wins, one at a time.
From there we built her back up. Walking. Squatting. Stairs. Running.
Then her surgeon said it was time for hardware removal. Not a huge setback, but still a step back. So we worked our way back to it again.
Double leg to single leg. Jogging to running to sprinting. Cutting, hopping, jumping. We used blood flow restriction training along the way to build strength and muscle.
Today was her last formal day of PT. She left with her home program in hand, ready to keep going on her own.
Looking back from that first day to today, she's come so far. She did the hard work, the sweat, and the tears. My job was to guide her through the ups and downs. And we did it together.
End of an era. So proud of you. 💙
