🇺🇸 Honoring Those Who Served 🇺🇸

Some flags are more than fabric. They carry a lifetime of honor within their folds.

At Serenity Village of Barry County, every Guest who walks through our doors carries a story — and for some, that story includes answering our nation’s call to serve. When we welcome a new Guest, we ask a simple but sacred question: Did you serve in the United States Armed Forces? For those who did, we honor that service with a Certificate of Honor and the Flag of the branch in which they proudly served.

Pictured here, Executive Director Greg Hooson presents Faye Whitford with the flag of the United States Marine Corps, given in honored memory of her husband, Paul Whitford, who served our country proudly as a United States Marine. Paul was a Guest in our care for a short time at Serenity Village, and it was our privilege to walk alongside him and his family during that season. Behind every veteran we honor is a story of courage and sacrifice — and behind every veteran is a family who carried that service alongside them. Today, we honored Faye as much as we honored Paul, for a Marine’s spirit lives on in the ones who loved him most.

Semper Fidelis, Paul. Always faithful — and always remembered.

To every veteran and every family who has called Serenity Village home: thank you. It is our privilege to care for you the way you once cared for all of us.

🌻 **Look what’s blooming at Serenity Village!** 🌻

This sunflower was planted here at Serenity Village this spring, and watching it grow has been such a beautiful little reminder of what happens when something is given time, care, and a place to grow.

From a tiny seed to this beautiful bloom. 💛

There’s something especially fitting about having a sunflower growing here at Serenity Village. Our home is a place filled with love, compassion, comfort, and so many precious moments. And just like this sunflower, we believe there is still beauty to be found in every season of life.

# # 💜 What Does a Care Coordinator Do at Serenity Village?

Being a **Care Coordinator** is about much more than completing a list of tasks. It’s about helping create a safe, peaceful, and comfortable environment for our hospice guests and their families.

At Serenity Village, our Care Coordinators help with things like:

✨ Providing compassionate, hands-on care and companionship
✨ Helping guests with their daily needs and comfort
✨ Communicating with hospice staff and families
✨ Supporting guests and families during difficult moments
✨ Maintaining a clean, safe, and peaceful environment
✨ Being a calm, caring presence when it matters most

Our Care Coordinators become an important part of the Serenity Village family — helping make someone's final days as comfortable and dignified as possible. 💜
