☀️ Beat the Heat & Join Us This Week! ☀️

Now that we’re getting a break from all the rain ☔️ summer is in full, full swing 🥵 So let’s share tips and talk all about babies, breastfeeding, and staying safe in the Mississippi heat! 🌞 not to mention plans for the 4th 🇺🇸🎆🧨

Ideas for conversations for this week will include:
🩷 Keeping babies cool and hydrated
🤱 Breastfeeding during the summer (cover or no cover🧐)
🧊 Pumping and milk storage while traveling
🏖️ Summer outings, vacations, and family fun!

💕 It was such a great time at our Grand Opening! We enjoyed meeting each and every one of you that came! 💕

One thing we learned is that many people assumed we meet monthly or every other week.

Nope—we’re planning to meet 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲!

Consistent support and community are at the heart of what we’re building, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Did you know that Mississippi continues to rank near the bottom nationally in several breastfeeding measures? 🧐

According to the CDC’s most recent data (infants born in 2022):

• 79.8% of Mississippi babies are ever breastfed
• 52.9% are still receiving breast milk at 6 months
• Only 31.9% are still breastfeeding at 12 months
• Just 22.6% are exclusively breastfed through 6 months

For comparison, the national average for exclusive breastfeeding through 6 months is 27.9%, and national public health goals aim much higher.

But we know statistics only tell part of the story.

Behind every number is a mother who may have struggled with:
🤱 Latch difficulties
😴 Exhaustion and sleep deprivation
🏥 Lack of support after leaving the hospital
💼 Pumping struggles when returning to work
❤️ Loneliness in the journey

Community makes all the difference. That’s where MILC league comes in.

Mississippi Making an Impact in the Lactation Community (MILC) League aims to improve maternal and child health across Mississippi by expanding access to equitable lactation support for all families. statewide. We are a 👏FREE👏 peer-led support resource, and we are so proud to begin the 13th MILC league location right here in the pine belt!

Our hope for the Pine Belt is simple:

✨ To provide encouragement without judgment
✨ To connect families with resources and support
✨ To celebrate every breastfeeding journey, whether it’s days, months, or years
✨ To help make breastfeeding feel a little less lonely

Every mother supported. Every baby nourished. Every family welcomed.

Whether you’re expecting, exclusively pumping, nursing a newborn, breastfeeding a toddler, or simply looking for support, theres a place for you here. We’re grateful you’re here and honored to be part of your village. 💙 We look forward to seeing you in less than 2️⃣ days!

We are so eager to officially open the doors to a new gathering space for breastfeeding moms, babies, and families here in the Pine Belt! 🫶

This group was created to be a place for encouragement, friendship, support, and real-life motherhood — where moms can come exactly as they are. Whether you’re nursing, pumping, combo feeding, formula feeding, pregnant, postpartum, or just looking for community, you are welcome here. 🤱✨
