📣 Caregiver Support Group – This Wednesday!

Join us this Wednesday June 3rd from 11:00 AM–12:30 PM at Senior Helpers of Hattiesburg for our monthly Caregiver Support Group.

We are excited to welcome Lindy Williams, Area Manager for Enhabit Hospice, and Elizabeth Legg, Area Manager for Enhabit Home Health, as our guest speakers.

They will be discussing the differences between Home Health and Hospice care, when these services may be appropriate, and how they can provide valuable support to individuals and families navigating healthcare needs.

Whether you’re currently caring for a loved one with Dementia or simply looking to learn more about available resources, this informative session will offer practical guidance and an opportunity to ask questions.

Please note that the disentangleAD Caregiver Conference will now be held on Friday, October 23rd. We look forward to gathering together to support and encourage caregivers in our community.

We are currently seeking sponsors for this year’s conference. Through the generosity of our sponsors, we are able to provide grants to caregivers of those living with Alzheimer’s disease. These grants help offer caregivers a small reprieve through sitter assistance, respite care, and help with safety concerns for their loved ones.

Join us for our next Dementia Caregiver Support Group & Education Event 💜

We’re honored to welcome guest speaker Julia Starrett, MS, LPC, Administrative Research Supervisor and Lead Rater at Hattiesburg Clinic Memory Center. With over 16 years of experience in cognitive assessment and Alzheimer’s research, Julia is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Dementia Practitioner who works closely with individuals and families navigating dementia. She has contributed to more than 40 clinical trials, including those leading to recently approved Alzheimer’s therapies, and is passionate about supporting caregivers through education and community involvement.

Thank you to State Representative Missy McGee for taking the time to meet with our community at Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. Pictured with disentangleAD Advisory Council member Julia Starrett, we appreciate your passion for understanding and advocating for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

Thanks so much to Julia Graham Starrett, Administrative Research Coordinator for The Memory Center at Hattiesburg Clinic for visiting us at Mississippi State Capitol today for Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day.

Alzheimers is a terrible disease and is very personal to me. I’m pleased that the Mississippi House of Representatives passed HB 565 which requires insurance coverage of biomarker testing for the purpose of diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Thanks again to Julia for the visit and for updating me on the latest research and treatments they are doing at Hattiesburg Clinic and elsewhere. I feel optimistic that we are gaining on this disease.

Hattiesburg Clinic Memory Center, a certified memory screening center for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, is offering free memory screenings throughout 2026. These screenings are available to individuals ages 45 and older and are designed to support early awareness and proactive brain health.

Registration is now open for upcoming 2026 screening dates. Space is limited and sessions fill quickly, so please contact Memory Center at (601) 268-5620 to register.
