It’s World Breastfeeding Week, and I’ve got some thoughts on this years theme.

As a breastfeeding mom who’s an IBCLC, I’ve dealt with personally and see every day the issues with our “system”.

There’s no support. Mothers feel like their worth is measure in ounces. You tell us it’s good to breastfeed our babies, but you undermine us at every turn.

It’s time to do better. It’s time to actually fund programs that SUPPORT mothers. Not the companies making money off of us.

Thoughts?? Comments?? What do you think should and could change??

We’ll be out of town next week!! Will still have my phone on me so please don’t hesitate to message!!

Just here to say: If you don’t have time to asses both mom and baby, OR you don’t know what’s going on. Please refer to an IBCLC. Breastfeeding can be complex and you have TWO patients. We could have so much better breastfeeding rates if we all worked together and referred when needed ❤️.

I also offer virtual visits around the world!!

I cannot stress enough the importance of picking your team when you’re pregnant. And picking the team best for YOU.

You get to ask your OB questions.
“When do you recommend being induced?”
“Do you do delayed cord clamping?”
“What’s your C-section rate??”
“How do you feel about birth plans?”

There’s so many important questions to ask. And you deserve to feel supported.

Just a few options for Mother’s Day. Flowers and cards are cool and all, but like we really need a nap over here 🤷🏼‍♀️

Babies often want to nurse more in the summer—and that’s completely normal ☀️

As temperatures rise, your baby isn’t just nursing for calories—they’re also nursing for hydration and comfort. Breastmilk naturally adjusts to meet your baby’s needs, even for the weather!

You might notice:
• Shorter, more frequent feeds
• Wanting to nurse more
• More cluster feeding, especially on hot days

This doesn’t mean your supply is low—it means your baby is regulating their intake how they’re designed to 💛

There’s no need to offer water or supplement if your baby is under 6 months and breastfeeding is going well. Just follow their cues, keep them cool, and trust the process.

If you’re feeling unsure or overwhelmed, reaching out to an IBCLC can help you feel confident and supported.

You’re not doing anything wrong—your baby is just adapting to the season 🌿
