Neuromuscular Disease Support Organization Announces new
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Grant DeHaven as NMDSO’s new Executive Director.
Grant DeHaven is a proud native of Petersburg, West Virginia. Since 2012, he has resided in New Bern, North Carolina and is the Director of Mission Assurance at MCAS Cherry Point. In this capacity, Grant is responsible for managing the protection of personnel, assets, infrastructure, and networks critical to the ex*****on of Department of Defense (DoD) mission essential functions. Additionally, he oversees installation emergency management and has managed numerous responses to all-hazard disasters.
Grant is a 2002 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and History. He received his Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004. While in graduate school, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant within the Military Intelligence Branch through the U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
In October of 2019 Grant joined NMDSO as a volunteer and founded the Bear Town Paddle Battles, which will continue as NMDSO’s annual paddle sport racing fundraising event in New Bern, NC, that attracts patrons from all over the eastern United States.
Mr. DeHaven is extremely passionate about advocating for people with neuromuscular diseases due to his own family’s experience with Huntington’s Disease. He brings many new ideas to the organization and we are excited to have Grant as our new Executive Director relieving our Founder, Sandi Sanderson who has moved to the Board of Directors and will continue to stay involved.
He enjoys staying active and spending plenty of time in the outdoors. His favorite hobbies include surfskiing, fishing, and swimming.
