I received this text from my older brother, Trenton, the other day. I so wish I could have been in the coffee shop to thank this gentleman for his scientific work benefiting millions across the globe.
" I saw this guy in the coffee shop on campus today and thought about you. He's a biology professor at Berkeley (Dr. Randy Schekman). He just won the Nobel prize for discovering the mechanism to use yeast to produce human insulin in the 1970s. Most human recombinant insulin is produced using his discovery."
