ACAT provides assistive technology (AT) demonstrations and consultation, a short term AT loan locker, maker space, workforce training, and refurbishing.

Today was a busy and productive day at ACAT as part of our CARAT program! Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students on the Hazard campus received hands-on training in assessing, cleaning, sanitizing, and refurbishing durable medical equipment. Through their hard work and dedication, they are helping ensure that quality equipment can be safely reused to benefit individuals in our communities.
We are incredibly proud of these ladies for their commitment to learning, service, and making a difference. They did an amazing job, and we appreciate their enthusiasm and attention to detail. Great work, everyone!

Yesterday, ACAT director and manager were part of the Kentucky Rural Telehealth Summit Webinar Series. The presented on Telehealth Without Limits: Improving Access for All Abilities, along with colleague, and Telehealth expert, Joneen Lowman. Thank you to the KRTS team for inviting us to present this important topic!

It is with a heavy heart that we share that today was our final monthly activity with the amazing staff and participants at LKLP Compassionate Hearts Adult Daycare.

Over the past several years, we have had the privilege of building meaningful relationships, sharing laughter, creating memories, and getting to know so many wonderful individuals. The kindness, joy, and warmth shown by everyone at Compassionate Hearts have made each visit truly special.

While it is difficult to say goodbye, we are incredibly grateful for the time we have spent together and the memories we will carry with us. We will miss each and every one of you more than words can express.

Thank you for welcoming us into your lives and allowing us to be a small part of your journey. We wish all of the staff and participants continued happiness, good health, and many blessings in the years ahead. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️

Today the ACAT team had the opportunity to host a toy adaptation session at the 4-H Teen Conference in Lexington!

During the session, students explored examples of adapted toys, games, and books designed to increase accessibility and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Participants then broke into small groups and selected a toy, game, or book to brainstorm adaptation ideas, and begin creating more accessible versions.

Each group presented their ideas. We were impressed by the ideas and enthusiasm shown by these future leaders!

Thank you to the students and organizers of the 4-H Teen Conference for allowing us to share the importance of accessibility and adaptive technology.

Today was a busy, yet fun-filled day for the ACAT team alongside the DPT students and faculty! We had the pleasure of participating in and assisting with the Senior Games at the Knott County Sportsplex. From hosting a resource table to helping with games and lunch, it was a wonderful day spent supporting and celebrating our seniors. A sincere thank you to all of the students who volunteered their time and energy to make today such a success. Your willingness to serve and engage with the community is truly appreciated.

For the past several weeks, ACAT has had the honor of celebrating our Pre-ETS students at Leslie County High School, Hazard High School, and today at Perry Central. Students enjoyed pizza and ice cream parties as we recognized our seniors with Pre-ETS graduation cords for their participation and dedication to the program over the years.

We would like to congratulate all of our students on their accomplishments. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the administrators and staff at each of these wonderful schools for their support and partnership along the way.

Today, the Pre-ETS transition students from Perry Central High School visited the Disability Resource Center for the final time this school year. We have truly enjoyed spending our monthly visits here—learning new skills, talking about life in general, and experiencing all the wonderful opportunities the Disability Resource Center has to offer.

We also had the pleasure of celebrating Karen Ritchie today as she prepares for her upcoming retirement. On behalf of Perry Central High School and ACAT, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Karen on her retirement and wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter.

Today, Perry Central High School's Pre-Ets students participated in a derby-themed conference at the Sportsplex. Everyone had a great time! Students made many crafts, met new friends, and enjoyed a fun-filled day together.

Today, ACAT participated in the Perry County Schools district-wide Exceptional Fun Day—and what a day it was! With the help of our Perry County Central High School Pre-ETS students, two creative and engaging games were developed and brought to life on the field. These games were shared with students from across the district, spreading smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of fun.

A big shout-out goes to some of the amazing East Perry eighth graders who truly stepped up today. They jumped right in—helping students, interacting with everyone, assisting with setup and takedown, and keeping the energy high all day long. Their kindness, teamwork, and positive attitudes did not go unnoticed.

Today our PCC Pre-ETS students visited the ACAT Makerspace to design and create games that will be played next week at Exceptional Fun Day! A special thank you to Lizzie Sutton, medical student from Lincoln Memorial University, for your help and support today. We appreciate you! Our students had a great time preparing for an exciting event next week!
