Today, our DPT students participating in the CARAT Special Elective hosted a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Drive at the UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health!

This initiative helps provide much-needed medical equipment to members of our community while giving our students valuable opportunities to serve others through compassionate care.

We are so proud of their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to making a difference. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this meaningful event! 💙

Yesterday, the ACAT Team had the pleasure of visiting the Perry County Senior Citizens Center at the invitation of Carole Frazier, Kentucky Homeplace Community Health Worker, with the Age Well Project she is working on.

We demonstrated a variety of assistive technology and showcased items available through our loan locker, along with adaptive devices we can create in our makerspace to help support our aging population and make everyday activities easier and safer.

We had a wonderful time connecting with everyone and sharing resources that can make a difference in daily living. Thank you again, Carole, for the invitation and the warm welcome by the senior center staff and participants.

Seniors + ACAT = 🫶🏻

Thank you to the Rowan County Senior Center for hosting our ACAT Morehead team earlier today for demonstrations and exciting games! We enjoyed sharing how the assistive technology devices we have to offer can help individuals gain access to activities both at home and in the community. Plus, it wouldn’t be an ACAT event without some friendly competition!

We are so thankful to be a part of a community that has embraced partnerships like this. Thanks to Gina, GADD, and the Rowan Counter Senior Center for all the wonderful things you do for our seniors!

We were excited to welcome the UK Extension Office Family and Consumer Science professionals to the ACAT Morehead site today!

Our team had a fun and engaging day filled with assistive technology demonstrations, activities, adaptations, and even a little friendly competition with Jeopardy and a relay race!

It was a great opportunity to learn, connect, and explore how assistive technology and adaptations can help make everyday activities more accessible for everyone.

We enjoyed connecting with school staff and sharing the many services the Appalachian Center for Assistive Technology (ACAT) has to offer. From assistive technology demonstrations and consultations to classroom supports and resources, we're here to help empower both students and educators.

Today was a bittersweet day at ACAT as we said goodbye to our wonderful student intern, Aubrey, as she begins an exciting new chapter at MIT!

It has been a true pleasure having Aubrey as part of our team. Her hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication have made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for the time we had with her.
Congratulations, Aubrey! We are incredibly proud of you and wish you all the best as you begin this exciting journey at MIT. We can't wait to see all that you accomplish!
