How are you taking care of yourself this season??

Summer is full of car rides, different environments, changing sleep schedules, and routines that are constantly shifting. As much as I love summer, I’m always excited for the next season of getting back into more of a routine and (trying to 😅) slow down a little bit.

Just a reminder to keep taking care of yourself through all the seasons of life and remember that chiropractic care can support you through whatever season you’re in, whether you’re an athlete, chasing little kids around, working long days, or just trying to keep your body feeling good.

Learning by doing. 👏

One of the best ways I can learn how I want my patients to move, what they should feel, and where they may need more support?

Doing it myself!

I have recently been going through a postpartum rehab program, following along with each movement while taking notes on what I felt, what cues made the most sense and exercise progressions.

It’s one thing to read about an exercise or watch someone demonstrate it. It’s another to actually feel the movement yourself.

So yes, I’ll absolutely put myself through the workouts I’m asking my patients to do. 😂 It helps me learn what feels good, what’s challenging and what cues actually make sense when you’re the one doing it.

Love learning and finding ways to make rehab better for my patients!

There’s a lot of information, and misinformation, about chiropractic care out there.

So let’s clear up a few common myths!👇

Chiropractic isn’t a magic fix, and it’s not something everyone needs forever. It’s one tool that can be used as part of conservative care for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

My approach is to look at the individual in front of me, figure out what they’re actually dealing with and build a plan around their goals.

Sometimes that includes an adjustment and sometimes it doesn’t.

Sometimes it includes mobility work, soft tissue work, dry needling, strength, rehab, nutrition or a combination of those things.

And sometimes the right answer is referring you to another provider.

You should never feel like you’re locked into a certain treatment schedule or that you have to keep coming forever. As symptoms, goals and capabilities change, your care should shift with that to keep you moving forward.

Questions on these or other things you’ve heard? I would love to chat through them with you! Always open through messages, texts or calls!

Backpacks, sports bags, groceries, carpooling, practices... here we go! 😂📚

Back-to-school season brings a whole new routine for families and the calendar fills up fast!

It’s also a good reminder that your body, and your kids’ bodies, need to be ready for the demands of everyday life.

For parents, that might mean lifting kids, carrying bags, sitting through games, running between activities, working and everything else that gets added to the schedule. 😅

For young athletes, it’s practices, games, lifting, running, jumping and often a pretty quick increase in activity after summer. ☀️

Building strength, mobility, coordination and capacity can help your body keep up with those demands.

Take care of yourself, too. And help your athletes learn to take care of their bodies early!

Hoping for a healthy, active and hopefully somewhat organized school year! 😉☺️📚✏️

This and a whole lot more!

Always thankful for patients trusting the process and care provided.

Working through these cases with combinations of soft tissue work, dry needling, adjustments and rehab.

Finish out the week strong & have a great weekend!! 💪

Short answer - YES!

Dry needling can create changes in muscle tone, pain sensitivity and how the nervous system is responding to an area. Some people notice less tension, easier movement or decreased pain pretty quickly!

While that is great, the immediate change isn’t our whole goal.

I like to use dry needling paired with movement, strength and mobility to help make it more long-term change.

Not everyone responds that quickly which is totally normal and also to be expected! Things take time, people respond differently, but staying consistent with care will be one of the biggest ways to notice change!
