Trauma, stress, injury, and chronic overwhelm don’t just affect the mind, they leave an imprint on the body.
Research continues to deepen our understanding of the connection between the brain, nervous system, tissues, and body’s protective responses showing us that healing often requires a whole-body approach when using manual therapies.
✨ 5 key insights from this work:
• The body remembers stress. - trauma can create patterns that live in the nervous system, fascia, and physical body long after the event has passed.
• Protection can become stuck – tension, pain, dysregulation, hypervigilance, or shutdown may reflect a nervous system that hasn’t fully returned to safety.
• Structure and function are deeply connected – restrictions in tissues, organs, fluid systems, and connective pathways can influence how we feel physically and emotionally.
• Gentle therapeutic touch can support regulation – bodywork may help create the conditions for the nervous system to soften, adapt, and restore balance.
• Healing happens through integration – supporting the brain, body, fascia, fluids, and nervous system together offers a more complete path toward recovery.
This understanding is part of what informs my work at Flow State Lymphatics, where therapies such as CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, lymphatic support, and trauma-informed bodywork are designed to help clients reconnect with safety, regulation, and the body’s innate healing rhythms. 💛
