For years, I treated my Saturdays like a catch-up day.
Catch up on emails. Catch up on errands. Catch up on everything I felt I had failed to finish all week. By Sunday night I was more tired than I was on Friday, and I could not understand why.
One Saturday morning, I made my tea and sat by the window with no plan at all. My phone was in another room. I remember feeling guilty for about ten minutes. Like I was doing something wrong by doing nothing.
Then the guilt faded, and I noticed things. The light on the wall. How warm the mug felt in my hands. How quiet my own mind could be when I stopped feeding it a to-do list.
Nothing got fixed that morning. But I felt more like myself than I had in weeks.
That is when I learned that rest is not the reward you earn after everything is done. It is part of how healing works, and part of how we take care of the whole person, mind, body and spirit.
So if today feels like a day to slow down, this is your permission.
What is one small thing you can do slowly today? Tell me below. 💜
Save this for the next time you feel guilty for resting.
