Menopause care goes beyond an HRT prescription. Estrogen and progesterone are an important part of treatment, but comprehensive menopause care also means looking at sleep, metabolic health, s*xual health, bone and cardiovascular health, nutrition, movement, stress, and the symptoms that may still persist despite being on hormones.

The goal isn’t simply to just prescribe HRT. It’s to help each woman feel and function better through an individualized, integrative approach to menopause care.

Intracellular water
It’s the amount of water inside your cells, and it’s emerging as a useful marker of muscle quality, cellular health, and healthy aging.
It’s just one piece of the puzzle—but sometimes it tells us more than the number on the scale ever could.

Kegels aren’t right for everyone.

During menopause, pelvic-floor muscles can become weak—or too tight—causing leakage, pressure, pelvic pain, painful s*x, or difficulty emptying the bladder.

The right evaluation can determine whether you need vaginal estrogen, pelvic-floor therapy, or another treatment. These symptoms are treatable.

I’ve always found feeding my fish incredibly calming. Apparently, there may be some science behind that feeling.

Studies looking at aquarium and fish viewing have found improvements in mood and relaxation, with some research also showing reductions in heart rate and anxiety.

The evidence is still limited, so I wouldn’t call watching fish a treatment for stress—but I love that something so simple may give our nervous system a few quiet moments.

For me, this is one of them.

Vaginal dryness is incredibly common, especially with hormonal shifts, certain medications, breastfeeding, or just day to day life. A good lubricant reduces friction and makes intimacy (or even a pelvic exam) more comfortable.

But “water-based” on the label doesn’t tell the whole story. The formulation matters — swipe to see what I actually check before recommending one. 👉

Questions about dryness or discomfort? Drop them below — this comes up in my office more than you’d think, and there’s no need to just live with it.

Collagen is one of the most popular supplements for women in midlife—but it’s also one of the most misunderstood.
Here’s what the science tells us:
✔️ Your body naturally makes collagen, but production begins to decline in your 30s.
✔️ Around perimenopause and menopause, that decline accelerates as estrogen levels fall.
✔️ Collagen provides structure and strength to your skin, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues.
✔️ A healthy diet with adequate protein and vitamin C supports your body’s collagen production.
✔️ Collagen supplements may provide modest improvements in skin hydration, skin elasticity, and joint comfort—but they’re not a miracle anti-aging treatment.
The biggest takeaway? No supplement can replace the fundamentals. Prioritize protein, strength training, quality sleep, and healthy lifestyle habits. Collagen can be one piece of the puzzle, but it isn’t the whole picture.

Do you take collagen? Have you noticed a difference? I’d love to hear your experience in the comments.

LDL tells you how much cholesterol is being carried. ApoB helps tell you how many plaque-forming particles are carrying it.
That difference can matter — especially when LDL looks “normal” but cardiovascular risk may still be higher than expected.
ApoB is a simple blood test and can be checked along with your regular cholesterol panel and Lp(a) for a more complete assessment of cardiovascular risk.

Menopause doesn’t happen all at once — it moves through stages, and each one comes with its own signals.
Perimenopause can start as early as your 30s. Menopause itself is a single point in time — 12 months without a period, usually around 51-52. And postmenopause is where long-term health, not just symptoms, becomes the focus.
Knowing which stage you’re in helps you know what to actually ask for at your next appointment.
Swipe through, and save this for when you need it. 💗

Systemic hormone therapy and vaginal estrogen are not interchangeable—they treat different symptoms.
If your healthcare provider prescribed both, there’s usually a reason. If you ever receive conflicting advice or aren’t sure why you’re taking a medication, ask your healthcare provider before stopping it.
Your treatment plan should be based on your symptoms, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Have you ever had your Lp(a) checked?

Lp(a) is a largely inherited risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Because levels usually remain stable, most adults only need this test once.

A high level does not mean you will develop heart disease—but it may mean your other risk factors should be managed more aggressively.

Midlife is a good time to make sure it has been checked.
