This would have been my neck if had been performed in USA. CERVICAL FUSION ONLY!!! (see bracket). THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE? REALLY?

As a person, physician or patient would I choose a total loss of over 50% of cervical range of motion?! And a high probability of future degeneration and failure of C3-4? (see red arrow). Then what???

BTW: There is no surgery available to "un-fuse" a fused neck!! If you fuse... that's it! You lose!

Would you have your knee fused today if that was the only thing available in the US? Fusion of the neck is no different... it's barbaric and unethical.

My post-operative cervical x-ray 05/2015. Cervical C4-5, C5-6 2. M6 ADR prosthesis. Surgeon ONZ German Spine Specialist, Dr Illerhaus. I am 4 months post surgery with phenomenal success. Going back to work soon! Pain reduction and ADL's continue to improve. This surgery can change your life..it has for me.

My pre-operative cervical spine 05/2015. Note the severity of degeneration at C5-6 disc space with severe degeneration and bone spurring!

A typical finding of adjacent degeneration from any fused level. My cervical pain and C5-6 neuropathy was pretty severe. C4-5 had to be additionally replaced due to disc herniation with subsequent central canal and foraminal stenosis.
