š§ Dementia Dimensions
This week we talked about the early, middle, and late stages of dementia.
And my biggest takeaway?
The stage may help guide the care, but it doesnāt define the person.
Everyoneās journey is different. Someone may need a little support at one point and much more as things progress.
What Iām learning through my CDP journey is to pay attention to the person in front of me.
What can they still do?
What makes them comfortable?
What brings them joy?
Where do they need support?
And how can we help without taking away their dignity or independence before we need to?
Thatās the part of dementia care that continues to stick with me.
Weāre not just caring for symptoms.
Weāre caring for people. š
Thank you for continuing to learn alongside me.
š Coming Next Week: Dementia is about so much more than memory loss. Weāre going to talk about some of the other changes dementia can cause that families may not immediately recognize.
š¬ Question: What was your biggest takeaway from this weekās series?
