Any time another medical professional tries to tell me women don't need testosterone, I get truly offended. There are so many benefits beyond libido and we have known for a while that it's the hormone that makes your brain work again. Now there's research to back up my argument.

If you don't want to read it all, it says the sudden loss of testosterone due to ovaries being removed may be related to lack of white matter integrity.
Translation: no testosterone = increased risk for brain disorders, including Alzheimer's! Even estrogen HRT didn't have the impact on white matter.

BOTH are important. Don't let somebody tell you that you aren't worth being heard and treated.

The ovaries are involved in far more than just reproduction.

A few years ago, I couldn't get off the floor.

I'm an osteopath. A trained physician. And I was convinced I had MS.

The fatigue. The brain fog. The body that wasn't responding to anything. I'd run every test on a patient who came to me with what I was feeling.

Turns out it wasn't MS.

It was my hormones.

Nobody had ever told me what perimenopause could actually do to a body. Not in med school. Not in residency. Not from another physician. I had to figure it out on myself.
