Most people stop at just holding the position, but adding movement is where the magic happens.

We’re progressing through:
✔️Toe lifts
✔️Heel raises
✔️Marching

Each layer challenges your stability, control, and endurance in a completely different way.

And yes, your Soleus muscle is working overtime here (one of the most underrated muscles for lower body strength and support).

Day 27: Side Kicks Kneeling

A true test of balance, control, and core stability. Keep your hips stacked, core engaged, and movement intentional. Can you keep your hips steady the whole time?

Since we’re in the middle of March Matness, today I thought we’d add a little twist.

The Spine Twist is a classic Pilates exercise that challenges rotational strength, spinal mobility, and deep core control. Usually it’s performed seated, but this is an effective variation! The goal isn’t how far you twist, it’s about maintaining length through the spine while the rotation comes from your waist.

Controlled. Intentional. Strong.

If you’ve heard me talk about Aging Robustly, you know I’m fascinated by mitochondria; the powerhouse of our cells.

They create the energy that fuels our muscles, brain, and metabolism. And the encouraging part? They respond directly to how we live.

As we age, mitochondria can weaken. But our bodies are remarkably responsive, and we can stimulate healthier mitochondria throughout life.

I also wrote a deeper dive on mitochondrial health and Aging Robustly over on my website. If you’re curious about the science behind it, the full blog post is available there. You can find it through the link in my bio!

A little throwback for The Saw exercise.

In Pilates, The Saw is often considered a “nerve glide” (or nerve flossing) exercise because it combines spinal rotation, forward flexion, and foot dorsiflexion, which gently tension and then release the sciatic nerve pathway.

Movements like this help support spinal mobility and healthy nerve movement, both of which play an important role in how we move and feel over time.

One of the beautiful things about Pilates is that the work continues to support us year after year.
