I can’t be everywhere. That’s why I started certifying practitioners.

The Pivot Point Stretch Method started as something I built to fix myself — to get back in the saddle when I thought I might have to give up my best horse. It worked. And once it worked for me, it worked for the clients I started using it with too.

But there’s only one of me, and there are riders and active adults everywhere who need this. So the next step was obvious: teach the method to PTAs who already have the hands and the training, and let them carry it into their own towns.

That’s what the Stretch Practitioner Certification is. Not just a course — an invitation to be one of the people who carries this method forward.

PTAs — you’re already doing the hard part. Why not get paid more for it? Stretch certification through Pivot Point Performance = more flexibility, more income, same skills you already have.

𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗢𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲

Summer means long days spent outside; riding, chores, competing, and spending time at sporting events or with loved ones. And while you’re focused taking care of your horse, it is important to remember that your body needs to recover too.

𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘺:

1: Rehydrate: Replace fluids after spending hours outside in the heat. Hydration plays an important role in recovery for both people and horses

2: Keep Moving: Summer recovery doesn’t necessarily mean to completely stop moving. Gentle movement and mobility work can help your body - and your horses body.

3: Give Both You And Your Horse Time to Cool Down

4. Prioritize Rest: Your body and your horse's body need time to recover from the work you've asked them to do. Rest is part of training—not time lost.

5. Add Mobility Work :Gentle stretching and mobility work can be a great way to help maintain movement and address areas that feel tight or restricted.

6. Refuel: Don't forget nutrition after a long day. Both you and your horse need healthy fuel in order to repair and recover. During the summer heat, hydrating fruits and veggies are incredibly beneficial for you, as well as foods with light protein.

7. Pay Attention to the Little Things: Notice changes in how you or your horse are moving, recovering, or feeling from one day to the next. Small changes can be worth paying attention to.

At the end of a long summer day, recovery isn't something you earn after working hard—it should be part of the plan.

Take care of yourself. Take care of your horse. You’re a team.

Is Your Horse Trying to Tell You They're Stiff?

Whether you’re hauling to rodeos every weekend, or simply enjoying trail rides together, your horse works hard. Just like human athletes, horses can develop stiffness & soreness that impact their performance.

Signs your horse may be feeling stiff:

- Shortened Stride
- Difficulty collecting & bending
- Resistant picking up leads
- Reluctance to be caught, saddled, or groomed

Many horses develop stiffness. especially during competition season or long hours in the trailer. That's why stretching and recovery techniques are so valuable. Just like human athletes, horses benefit from regular mobility work to improve flexibility, support recovery, and stay comfortable between rides and competitions.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦?
- 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: Static Stretching and Recovery techniques help reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, and support recovery after exercise
- 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Travel can leave horses feeling stiff from trying to stay balanced in the trailer. After a haul, mobility exercises, stretching, and physical therapy can help your horse feel more comfortable before returning to work
- 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘀: Notice of changes in gait, behavior, or sensitivity while grooming
- 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: Hand grazing & long in-hand walks are often an overlooked way to help your horse feel their best. A relaxed horse is much more likely to perform better due to lowered anxiety, and strong partnership.

𝙃𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧, sometimes your horse might need extra help to move and feel their best. Here at Pivot Point Performance, I develop an individualized treatment plan including physical therapy techniques, assisted stretching, and exercises designed specifically for your horse's needs.

Whether you’re headed to a rodeo, jackpot, trail ride, or clinic, the trip starts long before you pull into the parking lot. A few simple habits can make a big difference

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲:

- Hydration: Hydration is one of the MOST important things your horse needs to recover in the summer heat. Proper hydration improves digestive health, temperature control, and nutrient flow. One way to help your horse stay hydrated is to give them electrolytes.

- Cooling the legs: This is important even if your horse isn’t an athlete. Heat can lead to the breakdown of tendons at a cellular level. Cold hosing or cooling clays are excellent ways to cool your horse.

- Bring things like nebulizers and Lasix on the road. Some horses react to new allergens in new environments during travel. If you notice your horse struggling, a nebulizer can help lower their reactions to these. Since heat increases the risk of bleeding, Lasix might help prevent it.

- Routines: One overlooked tip to help your horse recover from traveling is keeping similar routines to what they are used to at home. Keeping a consistent schedule can help lower stress, which helps your horse to feel happier and perform at their best

- Plan breaks to cool down and let your horses rest during long hauls.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗢𝗨:

- Eat healthy food even while busy. Sometimes this can be difficult, but taking the time to plan ahead with meal planning or healthier options

- Keeping a stretching regimen. While on the road for long hours, you might find yourself feeling stiff and sore. Adding stretching into your routine can greatly benefit you.

Don't Wait Until You're in Pain

One of the biggest misconceptions about physical therapy and mobility work is that you should only seek help after something hurts.

The truth is, pain is often your body's last warning sign—not the first.

Long before pain shows up, your body may already be telling you something isn't quite right.

You might notice:
- Stiffness in the morning
- Tight shoulders, or back that never seem to loosen up during the day
- Feeling sore after activities that feel simple
- Small aches that come and go
- Needing more time to recover after work, workouts, or time in the saddle

These are all signs that your body could benefit from some help

Just like you wouldn't wait for your horse to become seriously lame before addressing a problem, your own body deserves the same proactive attention.

Physical therapy and assisted stretching aren't just about recovering from injuries—they're about helping you:
- Move more comfortably
- Improve mobility
- Reduce muscle stiffness
- Recover more quickly and efficiantly
- Keep doing the things you love
- Prevent future injury

Whether you're chasing kids, working long days, spending hours in the barn, or competing on weekends, taking care of your body now can help you continue doing those things for years to come.

Your health is an investment, not just a response to pain.

Don't wait until you're hurting to start taking care of yourself. Your body will thank you for it.

Most people spend more time sitting than they realize.
Whether you're working at a desk, driving to rodeos or horse shows, watching your kids' games, or relaxing after a long day at the barn, those hours add up.

The human body was designed to move, not stay in one position for hours at a time.

When you sit for prolonged periods, you may notice:
- Tight hips and hamstrings
- Stiff neck and shoulders
- Low back discomfort
- Reduced mobility
- Poor posture
- Feeling "stiff" when you stand up

Over time, these changes can make everyday activities you do every day feel more difficult - from walking to riding or even sleeping.

The good news is, you DON'T have to spend hours exercising to help your body.

Simple habits can make a big difference:
✅ Take "standing breaks" every hour you
sit
✅ Take a short walk whenever possible
✅ Do stretches for your hips and shoulders daily
✅ Add mobility exercises to your routine.
✅ Consider assisted stretching and physical therapy to help restore movement and reduce muscle tension.

Movement isn't just about preventing pain—it's about helping you move better with confidence so you can enjoy the activities you love.

Whether you're behind a desk, or behind the reins, your body works hard for you every day. Give it the movement and recovery it deserves.
