Thank you, Dr. Patrick, for joining my IPP training program.

We spent two wonderful and very productive days at Larkin Community Hospital – Palm Springs Campus , completing 12 cases: 8 primary IPP implants and 4 removal/replacement procedures.

Special thanks to Barney Lynch and Justin for being great OR companions and helping make these two days both enjoyable and educational.

Great cases, great teamwork, and great learning. Looking forward to doing it again soon!

IMPLANT VS. ENLARGEMENT

A lot of people confuse a pe**le implant with pe**le enlargement, but they are completely different.

A pe**le implant is a medical treatment for erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is a real medical condition.

The goal of a pe**le implant is to restore function and help a man get a reliable er****on when other treatments are no longer working.

Enlargement procedures are different. They are focused on cosmetic changes, usually size or appearance.

Many patients who ask about enlargement already function well. They can get er****ons. They simply want to look bigger.

Different procedures. Different goals. Different expectations.

The right conversation starts with understanding the real problem:

What are we trying to solve — function or size?

¿Qué pasa realmente después de un diagnóstico de cáncer de próstata?

Después de un diagnóstico de cáncer de próstata, el primer paso es entender exactamente a qué nos estamos enfrentando.

No todos los cánceres de próstata se tratan de la misma manera.

Algunos pacientes pueden necesitar vigilancia activa.
Algunos necesitan tratarse inmediatamente con cirugía.
Algunos necesitan radiación.
Algunos pueden necesitar otro plan de tratamiento.

La decisión depende del cáncer, de tu salud, de tu edad y de tus objetivos.

Esto no es una situación igual para todos.

Y no, usted no debe compararse con su primo, con su vecino o con su amigo.

RECUPERANDO TU MEJOR AMIGO

La disfunción eréctil no es solo sobre el s3xo.

Yo he pensado profundamente en este tópico, que no es solamente perder la erección, no es solamente no poder tener s3xo, pero es una pérdida de la relación, una pérdida de poder pegarse emocionalmente a su pareja, una pérdida de poder disfrutar la vida, una pérdida de su mejor amigo. 💔

Uno tiene erección en útero, en el estómago de su mamá, y estamos diseñados a tener una erección toda la vida hasta el día que nos muramos.

El día que perdemos la erección es como si algo se ha mu**to en nosotros.

Hemos perdido a nuestro mejor amigo.

Restaurar la erección te da tu vida de vuelta, te da a tu mejor amigo de vuelta, te da esa conexión con tu pareja de nuevo. ❤️

Eso es muy importante.

Es muy importante tratarla no solamente porque es algo de s3xo.

Es algo que te deja sentir completo de nuevo.

Y los tratamientos son bastante simples.

No sufras y no estés en miedo. 🙏

FEELING LIKE LOSING YOURSELF 💔

A lot of people think that erectile dysfunction is only about s*x, but it’s really not.

It’s about closeness. ❤️
It’s about relationship.
It’s about restoring your body.
And it’s about a sense of loss.

I always tell patients that we start having er****ons in utero, when we’re in our mom’s belly, and we’re designed to have er****ons until the day we die.

Once we lose our er****on, we lose our best friend.
We lose something that we’re used to always having.
We feel incomplete.

Not only can we not connect or attach to our loved ones, but we feel a sense of loss.
It’s almost like losing somebody. 💔

So when you can treat that, and when you can get your er****ons back, you can get your s*x life back, you’re kind of recovering your best friend.

You’re recovering from that loss.
You’re able to connect with your partner.
And you’re able to establish a normal relationship.

It’s about curing a disease and becoming whole again. 🙏

¿QUÉ IMPLANTES UTILIZO? 💉

Estamos acá en Washington, DC 🇺🇸 en la conferencia de urología mundial 2026, y acabo de salir de un debate comparando los tres implantes de pene: Boston Scientific, Coloplast y uno que viene en el futuro, llamado Rigicon.

Lo que me llamó la atención fue que estaban diciendo que si tienes un paciente al que le gusta caminar desnudo, que no tiene líneas de bronceo, y le pones un Titan o un implante de Coloplast, ese paciente no va a estar contento, porque el pene cuando está desinflado se puede ver anormal con ese tipo de implante. ⚠️

Claro, cuando todos los implantes están inflados, todo se ve bien, todo se ve parecido. Pero lo importante es cómo se ve cuando el implante está desinflado, porque así está la mayoría del tiempo. 👀

Y estaba pensando que no solamente los pacientes sin líneas de bronceo, sino todos los pacientes, merecen tener un pene lindo, natural, y sentirse orgullosos de él cuando está desinflado. 🙌

Y esa es una de las muchas razones por las que, en este momento, uso exclusivamente el implante de Boston Scientific.

Este debate me hizo entender que lo que estoy haciendo es lo correcto.

¿SON MEJORES LOS IMPLANTES RECUBIERTOS CON ANTIBIÓTICOS?

Aquí en la AUA 2026 en Washington, DC 🇺🇸, durante un debate sobre los tres tipos de prótesis peneanas, se mencionó que el implante de Boston Scientific tiene una cobertura llamada InhibiZone®, que ayuda a prevenir infecciones. 🛡️

Algunos comentaban que estos antibióticos son “viejos”, que casi nadie los usa ni los prueba hoy en día, y lo decían como si fuera algo negativo. 🤔

Pero yo lo veo de otra manera.

Para mí, eso es positivo. ✅

Cuando no se usa un antibiótico con mucha frecuencia, hay menos abuso y menos resistencia bacteriana. 💊

Y clínicamente, lo que vemos es que los implantes de Boston Scientific con InhibiZone® raramente se infectan. 📉🩺

Para mí, eso refuerza que es una muy buena cobertura antibiótica y una excelente opción en cirugía.

ARE ANTIBIOTIC-COATED IMPLANTS BETTER?

Here at the AUA in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸, as part of the debate I saw about the three different pe**le prostheses, one of the things that was brought up was that the Boston Scientific pe**le implant has a covering called InhibiZone®, which none of the other implants have, and it helps prevent infection. 🛡️

One of the comments was that this antibiotic is very old, that nobody really tests for it anymore, and that nobody uses it much anymore. 💊

They were talking about it as if it was a negative, but I interpreted it in a different way. 🤔

To me, it is a positive. ✅

If you don’t use antibiotics very frequently, and you don’t abuse them, you don’t develop as much resistance. 🧬

And what we have seen is that the infection rates with Boston Scientific implants with InhibiZone® coverage are almost nonexistent. 📉

It reinforces the fact that it is a great choice of antibiotic, it works very well, and the fact that it is not used clinically very widely helps maintain low antibiotic resistance against the implant. 🩺

So I view this as a positive, and it reinforces what I see clinically: Boston Scientific implants rarely get infected.
