💜 Today we celebrate World Preeclampsia Day 💜

Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication that usually develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is characterized by high blood pressure and signs that organs — such as the kidneys or liver — may not be functioning properly.

Did you know?
• Preeclampsia affects approximately 1 in 12 pregnancies worldwide.
• It is one of the leading causes of maternal and infant illness and complications.
• Preeclampsia can develop during pregnancy, during labor, or even after delivery (postpartum preeclampsia).
• Early diagnosis and routine prenatal care greatly improve outcomes for both mom and baby.

⚠️ Common symptoms may include:
• Persistent headaches
• Swelling of the hands, feet, or face
• Vision changes or blurred vision
• High blood pressure
• Pain in the upper abdomen
• Sudden weight gain
• Shortness of breath

Certain factors may increase risk, including:
• First pregnancy
• Multiple pregnancy (twins or more)
• History of high blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• Family or personal history of preeclampsia

Preeclampsia can progress quickly, which is why keeping prenatal appointments and speaking up about symptoms is so important. Listening to your body can save lives. 💜

At Catawba Women's Center, we are committed to educating, supporting, and caring for women throughout every stage of pregnancy and postpartum care.

🌸 Making your health a priority is one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your family. Regular wellness visits, preventive screenings, and listening to your body are important steps toward staying healthy at every stage of life.

At Catawba Women’s Center, we encourage women to take time for their health — whether that means scheduling your annual exam, staying current on mammograms and screenings, or simply making self-care a priority. 💕

Your health matters. You matter.

🧡National Infertility Awareness Week: April 19th - April 25th🧡

At Catawba Women’s Center, we recognize that infertility affects more families than many realize—impacting 1 in 6 couples. Behind every number is a story filled with hope, resilience, and strength.

Infertility can take many forms, including challenges with ovulation, hormonal imbalances, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, and more. No matter the journey, you are not alone.

This week, we stand with those who are trying, those who are waiting, and those who are grieving. We are here to provide support, guidance, and compassionate care every step of the way.

Our team is here for you. 🧡

Did you know 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime?

Early detection saves lives — and for many women, mammography alone may not be enough.

About 40% of women have dense breast tissue, which can make cancer harder to detect on a mammogram. That’s why we’re excited to offer Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) in addition to 3D screening mammography.

When used together, these technologies can help improve cancer detection in women with dense breast tissue.

✔ Safe and non-invasive
✔ No radiation
✔ Takes about 30 minutes

If you have dense breasts, talk with your provider about whether ABUS screening may be right for you.

📅 Schedule your annual mammogram today and ask about ABUS at Catawba Women’s Center.
