We chatted with Nathan Smith, MS, PhD, and asked him why he’s proud to work at URMC and what Juneteenth means to him.

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐑𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐒𝐭𝐑, πŒπ’, 𝐏𝐑𝐃, said:
Juneteenth, to me, is a time to honor our ancestors’ legacy and empower the next generation. Maya Angelou’s words, β€œNothing can dim the light that shines from within,” remind us to carry forward their gifts and inspire others through our words and actions.
