Diarrhea?

Cyclospora is a parasitic infection of the intestines that causes prolonged watery diarrhea, often accompanied by loss of appetite, abdominal cramping, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes low-grade fever or weight loss. Symptoms typically begin about 1 week after consuming contaminated food or water, most commonly fresh produce such as leafy greens, herbs, or berries. Unlike many causes of food poisoning, Cyclospora is not usually spread directly from person to person because the parasite requires time in the environment to become infectious. Diagnosis is made with specialized stool testing, and the treatment of choice is the antibiotic trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX, Bactrim).

FirstCare Medical Center registered patient 93,000 when Jason came in for a visit. Jason received cake and some promotional items, as well as a chance to spend time with Kimchi, one of our office support animals. Thank you for coming in Jason!
