Nobody says “I’ll get glasses when I’m older.”

But hearing? We push that one down the road until someone else brings it up!

Strange, considering it’s the one that decides whether you catch what your grandkid just said, or spend dinner nodding along hoping it wasn’t a question.

Get a baseline. Even if everything’s fine, especially if everything’s fine.

Four things that feel like they should help your tinnitus, but are quietly doing the opposite💙

Chasing silence. A quiet room doesn’t calm the ringing, it hands it the microphone. With nothing else to listen to, your brain turns up what’s already there. So give it something gentle instead, ocean sounds, rainfall, soft instrumental music.

Calling it unbearable. “This is horrible.” “It’s driving me crazy.” Totally understandable and also, those words build the emotional wiring around the sound. Your brain holds onto what it thinks is a threat. Softening how you talk about it really does help.

Wearing earplugs all day. Around real noise, concerts, power tools, anything about 85 dB or louder, always protect. But through ordinary life, plugging your ears blocks the everyday sound your brain needs, and things end up feeling louder, not quieter.

Keeping close tabs on it. Rating it, journaling it, checking if today’s worse than yesterday. Attention is what tells your brain this sound matters. The less you check in on it, the more it drifts into the background.

If you’ve been doing any of these, you’re in good company, they’re the most natural instincts in the world. They just happen to work backwards. And the good news is that means there’s something to actually work with.

Dr. Julie walks through all four in a full video on our YouTube, link in bio!

We Love Local! 🥪

At Sound Relief, we believe in supporting the local businesses that make Highlands Ranch special. Starting today, we’re kicking off a new tradition: showing up for our favorite local spots and supporting them, one lunch at a time!

For our PCC Ashley, today’s pick had a personal touch. Her daughter goes to CU Boulder, right where Snarf’s got its start back in 1996!

So for our very first feature, we headed to Snarf’s Sandwiches to support a local business that’s been part of Colorado for over 30 years. The team favorite was the Snarf’s Italian, and honestly, the oven-toasted bread alone makes it worth the trip.

We can’t wait to keep showing up for local favorites as we make our way through Highlands Ranch, one restaurant at a time!

“Nothing can be done.”

Respectfully, that’s not true, and we’d love to show you why.

No cure? Correct. No options? Not even close.

If someone told you to just live with the ringing, come see us. That’s literally what we specialize in. 🎧

Turns out looking after your ears is kind of a vibe✨

We check our eyes, our teeth, our skin… but hearing? It usually waits until someone's yelling "turn it DOWN" from across the house. Getting it checked is quick, easy, and honestly? Kinda chic.

Consider this your sign 💫

What have you tried for your tinnitus? 👂 Pills, apps, fans, cutting caffeine, healing frequencies at 2am… we've all been there.

While some of these work to mask it, they don't get rid of it. That's because they cover the sound instead of retraining the loop in your brain keeping you locked onto it.

Stop masking it. Start retraining it. The Sound Relief Method™ is built to quiet tinnitus for real — real neuroscience, 20+ years, thousands helped.

Tired of False Promises?

Tinnitus patients have been promised a lot: a new device, a new app, a new breakthrough. That’s why I’m excited about Frequency Health’s Precision Sound Therapy.

Unlike a one size fits all approach, it measures 67 different points to help identify tinnitus markers and hearing changes that might otherwise go undetected. From there, personalized software creates a sound therapy file based on your unique hearing profile, which you listen to at home through calibrated earbuds, typically 1 to 3 hours a day.

For the right person, especially someone who doesn’t want to wear ear level devices full time, this could be an important part of their path forward.
