THRIVEFIRST™: RECOGNIZE. EMPOWER. SUPPORT.

Sometimes helping someone with their mental health does not begin with having the perfect words.

It begins with noticing.

At Naturelle WellEarth, our work in cultural mental health and whole-person wellness reminds us that people express stress, pain, fear, grief, and emotional distress differently. Culture, family expectations, age, language, stigma, and personal experiences can all influence whether someone feels safe enough to ask for help.

That is why we created the globally accredited ThriveFirst Mental Health & Wellness First Responder Training around one simple philosophy:

R — RECOGNIZE

Notice when something feels different.

A young person suddenly withdrawing.
A parent becoming overwhelmed.
A caregiver quietly burning out.
A coworker who no longer seems like themselves.
A friend whose “I’m fine” doesn’t feel fine.

Recognition is not diagnosis.

It is simply learning to pay attention with compassion instead of judgment.

E — EMPOWER

Mental health support should never make another person feel powerless.

Listen.
Encourage.
Remind them of their strengths.
Help them understand that asking for support is an act of courage.

Sometimes empowerment sounds like:

“You don’t have to figure this out alone.”

S — SUPPORT

You do not need to be a therapist to care.

Support may mean listening without immediately trying to fix everything.

It may mean helping someone connect with a parent, counselor, physician, mental-health professional, trusted adult, community resource, or crisis service when appropriate.

For our youth, families, caregivers, professionals, educators, coaches, community leaders and workplaces, ThriveFirst teaches an important message:

We can all become more mentally health-aware.

We can notice sooner.
We can listen better.
We can respond with greater compassion.
And together, we can help create communities where asking for help feels normal—not shameful.

💜 RECOGNIZE.
💚 EMPOWER.
💛 SUPPORT.

This is R.E.S.

This is ThriveFirst.

And this is how small moments of awareness can become meaningful moments of human connection.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WellBeing Health Specialists Introduces Pioneering Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification Focused on Whole-Person Care, Meaningful Engagement, and Daily Joy

New training authored by Dr. Arlene Strugar expands traditional caregiver education by integrating memory support, active living, wellness, balance, brain-gut-skin health, sleep, purpose, and year-round activities to make caregiving safer, more meaningful, and more joyful.

WellBeing Health Specialists is proud to announce the launch of the WellBeing LongevityJoy™ Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification**, an innovative caregiver education program created to help professional caregivers, family caregivers, care companions, and agency owners move beyond task-centered caregiving toward a more complete model of whole-person care.

The certification was **authored and pioneered by Dr. Arlene Strugar, Owner and Founder of WellBeing Health Specialists**, with a central belief: caregiving should not focus only on what needs to be done for a person—it should also preserve what makes that person feel alive, connected, valued, capable, and joyful.

The Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification is designed to complement state-required caregiver education and agency training programs by adding a distinctive focus on quality of life, healthy aging, meaningful daily engagement, and personalized care. It is not intended to replace any required state training, licensure, clinical education, or agency-specific competency requirements.

Caregiving is about much more than completing a checklist,” said Dr. Arlene Strugar. “The people we care for still need purpose, laughter, movement, conversation, memories, nature, comfort, connection, and something to look forward to each day. I created this certification to help caregivers understand that supporting longevity also means supporting the quality and joy of the life being lived.”

A New Dimension in Caregiver Education

Traditional caregiver training appropriately emphasizes safety, activities of daily living, infection control, documentation, client rights, emergency procedures, and other essential competencies.

The Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification builds upon that foundation.

Participants learn how everyday caregiving moments can become opportunities to support **memory, mobility, independence, emotional wellbeing, social connection, sleep, sensory comfort, healthy routines, dignity, and joy**.

The curriculum brings together key areas including:

* Memory support, reminiscence, music, conversation, and meaningful cognitive engagement
* Active living, safe movement, functional fitness, posture, balance, and fall-prevention awareness
* Longevity-supportive daily routines and whole-person wellness
* Hydration, nutrition support, and a brain-gut-skin wellness perspective
* Skin comfort, observation, grooming, dignity, and healthy self-care routines
* Sleep, rest, circadian rhythms, calming evening routines, and supportive redirection
* Social connection, purpose, gratitude, happiness, and emotional wellbeing
* Personalized indoor and outdoor activities adaptable to different abilities and interests
* A **yearlong activity framework** that gives caregivers fresh ideas throughout every season
* Client intake tools that help caregivers understand the individual's history, routines, preferences, strengths, interests, culture, sources of comfort, and personal definition of joy

Especially Meaningful for Dementia Care

The program is particularly relevant for caregivers supporting older adults and people living with dementia or cognitive changes.

Rather than focusing on correcting or testing the individual, caregivers are taught to use person-centered approaches such as familiarity, reminiscence, music, sensory experiences, validation, calm redirection, predictable routines, and meaningful activities.

A photograph can become a conversation.

A favorite song can become movement.

Folding towels can become purpose.

A garden walk can provide exercise, sensory stimulation, memory cues, and companionship.

Preparing a family recipe can support connection, appetite, identity, and reminiscence.

The training emphasizes adapting activities to each person's abilities, energy, preferences, care plan, and safety needs. Caregivers are also taught when an activity should stop and when changes should be documented and reported to the appropriate supervisor, family member, or healthcare professional.

# # Benefits for Professional Caregivers

For professional caregivers, the certification provides an opportunity to develop a more specialized skill set and distinguish themselves as caregivers who understand not simply **how to care for someone, but how to help create meaningful days**.

Certified participants learn practical approaches that may help them:

Improve engagement with clients; develop stronger person-centered relationships; confidently plan safe and meaningful activities; recognize individual preferences and sources of joy; incorporate gentle movement and wellness into everyday routines; support people experiencing memory changes; communicate more effectively with families and care teams; and bring greater purpose and creativity into the caregiving role.

It also gives caregivers a professional development credential that can complement their existing required training and demonstrate additional education in whole-person longevity and quality-of-life-centered caregiving.

Benefits for Family Caregivers

The certification is not limited to professional caregivers.

Family members often find themselves caring for a parent, spouse, grandparent, or loved one without having received formal education in how to structure the day, encourage activity, respond to cognitive changes, create meaningful engagement, or maintain their loved one's sense of identity and purpose.

This program gives family caregivers a practical framework for answering one of the most important questions in caregiving:

Beyond keeping my loved one safe, what can I do today that will make their life better?”**

Participants learn simple approaches that can be used at home without turning the family relationship into a clinical experience.

A Valuable Training Opportunity for Home Care Agencies

The Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification also offers a distinctive workforce-development opportunity for **home care agency owners, administrators, trainers, and care managers**.

Agencies may incorporate the program as supplemental education alongside required caregiver training, orientation, continuing education, dementia education, and agency competencies, subject to applicable state requirements.

For agencies, the program offers a way to develop caregivers who are more prepared to provide individualized engagement rather than generalized companionship.

The result is a model of care centered on an important question:

Are we simply filling the hours—or are we helping the person have a better day?

The certification can help agencies establish a stronger culture around person-centered care, caregiver creativity, engagement planning, family communication, healthy aging, and quality of life.

The LongevityJoy™ Difference

At the heart of the program is the concept of **LongevityJoy™**—the idea that longevity should not be measured only by the number of years lived, but also by the experiences, relationships, abilities, comfort, purpose, dignity, and happiness contained within those years.

Caregivers are encouraged to incorporate small moments of joy throughout the day:

A favorite cup of tea.

A five-minute walk.

Music from someone's youth.

A conversation about their career.

Watering a plant.

Watching birds outside.

Preparing a favorite meal.

Looking through family photographs.

Calling someone they love.

Sitting in the sunshine.

Laughing together.

These moments may appear simple, but they represent something fundamental to person-centered caregiving: **the person receiving care remains a person first.**

Created by Dr. Arlene Strugar

The Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification was **authored and pioneered by Dr. Arlene Strugar, Owner and Founder of WellBeing Health Specialists**, as part of the organization's commitment to advancing compassionate, personalized, whole-person approaches to caregiving and aging in place.

“I want caregivers to finish a shift knowing they did more than provide care,” Dr. Strugar said. “I want them to know they helped someone move, remember, connect, participate, smile, feel valued, and experience joy. Those moments matter. That is what this certification is designed to teach.”

Enrollment and Agency Partnerships

The **WellBeing LongevityJoy™ Caregiver Longevity Specialist Certification** is intended for:

Professional caregivers • Family caregivers • Care companions • Home care agency staff • Agency owners and administrators • Dementia caregivers • Senior-care professionals • Wellness-minded care professionals • Individuals preparing for a career in caregiving**

Individual certification, caregiver-team training, and agency education opportunities will be available through WellBeing Health Specialists.

Care Longer. Live Better. Create Joy.
