I had a friend recently reach out to me for advice concerning a very deep open wound, that needed surgery. They asked what I would recommend for pain and infection fighting.
First and foremost, PRAY!!! The only one who is truly able to give us healing is our God! Then...
My thoughts immediately went to garlic. In my studies, I have learned that fresh raw garlic, as a paste, was used externally on the wounds of soldiers during the civil war to keep infection away. Garlic would also burn, which in turn actually helped with the pain, but in today's culture, we would be a good idea to dilute the garlic. Mixing it with raw organic honey or an herbal salve like B&W ointment would be a good way to dilute it and it would still be effective in keeping infection away. I would make a paste out of the garlic and then I would apply a little heat to the B&W ointment or honey so that you can mix the two together. Then apply that to the wound.
A family relative used fresh raw garlic mixed with raw organic honey as a paste for deep open wounds on his legs to keep infection away when he was in the latter years of his life. A small wound would turn into a huge infection because he was a severe diabetic, but the garlic and honey worked like a charm.
A person could also take garlic internally to keep staph infection and other kinds of bacterial infections away. To make it easier to get it down, you could crush it and add it to an avocado, a baked potato (provided that the baked potato is not too hot), or you could even put it in some warm broth and then drink it. Crushing the garlic and leaving it sit out for 30 minutes to an hour before consuming makes the antibiotic properties (allicin) in the garlic stronger. Garlic works better than most antibiotics because it doesn't kill off the good bacteria. It only kills off the bad bacteria, so it doesn't set you up for other infections, like yeast overgrowth.
I've used fresh raw garlic for many things over the years, such as ear infections, keeping infection away after the car accident that almost killed me, helping some to overcome staff infection, strep throat, open wounds, etc. I have used it on my pets as well.
For pain, taking turmeric, ginger, frankincense, and cinnamon internally will help to keep inflammation down which will in turn help with the pain. All of these herbs are safe and these are the four herbs I used after the car accident that nearly killed me 5 years ago. It kept me from needing the pain medications they had prescribed to me like oxycodone, robaxin, and Tylenol, which hindered my healing process and had other unpleasant side effects as well. It took me two and a half weeks to get off of the pain medications, but it was well worth it.
Also, we need to understand that food plays a vital role in our healing process, as well as keeping inflammation down. It's important to stay away from traditional breads, pastas, cereals, sugar, and processed foods. Try to eat all organic if possible. Consuming lots of vegetables, foods high in manganese, and proteins helps to rebuild muscle and repair tissue. Those four herbs that I mentioned for helping with pain also aid in the healing process.
