You and me, if we're doing things right, we practice alchemy on the regular. Undesirable happenings can either ruin the road, or pave the way for new opportunity. How we perceive and respond make the difference.

There's been so many undesirable happenings along the way of my building this business. God knows if I was going to be defeated, there have been plenty of opportunities so far!

Most of you know I custom blend ingredients for facial treatments and make facial oils. You may have even used some of my herbal infused witch hazel! This Botanical Alchemy facial toner fit right in!

𝕺𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖚𝖕𝖔𝖓 𝖆 𝖙𝖎𝖒𝖊...

I wanted to make a perfume.
Vanilla and Rose. Do you know the life of the vanilla bean? How magnificent their existence?

I bought the prestigious ingredients, researched the proper solvents, calculated the ratios for extractions, patiently tended to its development... but it did not transform into what I wanted.
I added more precious fragrant petals, plump and juicy beans, extended the extraction time, ensured a favorable environment. Come to find, still... not as expected.

Fast forward three years - of patience, persistence, research, correction, gentle agitation of my creation ... an amateur's effort gone unsuccessfully.

But, a valuable lesson and a metaphor.

♥︎ Efforts are NEVER un-successful.
♥︎ Learning is never a waste of time.
♥︎ Expectations about outcomes can usually guarantee dilemmas.
♥︎ Creative curiosity and critical thinking, problem-solving and perseverance are NEVER not rewarding.
♥︎ Trying new things-
♥︎ thinking outside of the box-
♥︎ intending to generate something you think will be absolutely magical...
♥︎ These types of efforts, amateur or expert level, are ALWAYS worthwhile investments of your (my) time and energy.

Attempts were not producing my desired outcome. I had to decide, what next? Trash it and try again, or turn it in to something else?

Trashing it didnt feel like an option. There was too much value in materials, monetarily and energetically. Plus, it did smell wonderful, but the mathematics behind my musings were not quite proper fractions (if you know what I mean) 🙃 and so I decided it to turn it into something else.

What doesnt go according to plan usually becomes something better.

The perfume was slowly steeped and re-envisioned into this aromatic elixir. It can be used for far more than sweeping away surface impurities. Blended with delicate floral hydrosols and alcohol-free witch hazel, its ready for you!

Some of you may remember my grandmother visiting ♡ she's officially a Floridian now, and I'll admit a far better laundry lady than I could ever dream to be and have on staff 🥰. No more wrinkled sheets and towels, . Say hello to her next time you're here for an appointment!

Your grandmother's beauty routine didn't include chemical peels, retinol or pharmaceutical creams. She didn't chase her age away with laser beams, stainless steel scalpel blades, ultrasonic radio waves, peptide chains...Needle-point was still just an art form and not a ubiquitous ad campaign for making her face look the same as everyone else's. "Tox-parties" were still just "Tupperware", and anything else that came packaged in plastic got side eyed at the supermarket. Now all the eyes are too dense with lashes, brows are permanently unfurrowed and artificially ashen. Lips no longer have variation, they're all looking like overdone situations. Nowadays you can't tell the difference. Women are programmed to get their injections; fillers, plumpers, synthetic additions... as I dare to reject this construct, hopefully the rest of the world will play catch-up. If you think your beauty fades, re-frame these ideas that keep you caged. Freedom from financial burdens and pressures, jars of nonsense that don't help whatsoever - it can be so much simpler once you learn - skin doesn't want you to be so obedient, slathering on active ingredients. Following 4 steps, 6 steps, or more...it's happiest with less work to rebalance and restore. The more we bombard skin with product & procedure, compromised barriers allow damage deeper. The whole world seems to be going in a crooked direction, so I send you this message as a little objection - don't be so fooled that you don't stop to question - have you been informed of long term consequences? Remember there's always two sides to consider. Some of the pitfalls hide behind glitter. Youthful glows don't come from a bottle, a needle, or products promoted by models. The truth is your glow radiates outward from within. And the health of your body is mirrored by skin.

First year of Acupuncture schooling down!
