Back-to-school season can bring big feelings—for kids and parents. 🎒💜

Even children who are excited to return to school may also be navigating worries about new teachers, friendships, academics, routines, separation, or simply not knowing what to expect.

And those feelings don’t always sound like “I’m anxious.”

They might look like irritability, trouble sleeping, extra clinginess, stomachaches, meltdowns, difficulty focusing, or suddenly not wanting to go to school.

As we head into a new school year, try creating space for conversation without immediately trying to fix the feeling.

Instead of only asking, “Are you excited for school?” try:

💜 What are you looking forward to most?
💜 Is there anything you’re worried about?
💜 What do you think might feel hard?
💜 What would help you feel more comfortable?
💜 Is there anything you want me to know before school starts?

Sometimes kids don’t need us to take the worry away—they need to know they can bring it to us.

Here’s to a school year filled with growth, confidence, connection, and plenty of grace along the way. 💜

Meet our newest clinician, Julia! Julia is now accepting clients both in person and telehealth. We asked Julia a few questions about herself. Here is what she had to say:

🌸What area of mental health are you most interested in?

“I am passionate about helping individuals navigate anxiety, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. My goal is to create a supportive space where clients can discover their strengths, build confidence, and become the healthiest, most authentic versions of themselves.”

🌸Fun fact about yourself!

“A fun fact about myself is that I really enjoy doing Pilates and am hoping to become an instructor someday!”

Anxiety often convinces us that we need certainty before we can move forward. The truth is, courage isn’t the absence of anxiety—it’s choosing to keep going even when uncertainty is present.

Be gentle with yourself today. Your nervous system deserves compassion, not criticism. 💜

We’re honored to share that our practice has been recognized as a Top Doc for the second year in a row! 💜

This recognition reflects the trust our clients place in us and the dedication we bring to creating a safe, compassionate space for healing and growth every day.

Self-compassion isn’t about lowering your standards—it’s about changing the way you speak to yourself when life gets hard.

Many of us are quick to offer kindness, patience, and understanding to the people we love, yet our inner voice can be our harshest critic.

Growth doesn’t come from tearing yourself down. It grows in an environment of compassion, curiosity, and care.🌸

💜 We’re Growing!

As Center for Specialized Psychology continues to grow and expand, we are excited to announce the opening of our 3rd office location in Hoboken.

What began as a vision to provide compassionate, specialized mental health care has grown into a thriving practice dedicated to supporting youth, women, and families throughout our community.

This expansion allows us to increase access to care, offer additional in-person appointments, and continue welcoming talented clinicians who share our commitment to helping clients heal, grow, and thrive.

We are incredibly grateful to our clients, referral partners, and community supporters for the trust you place in us every day. Your support has made this growth possible.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to serve the Hoboken community for years to come.

✨ Three locations. One community. One mission. ✨

Summer is supposed to feel carefree—but for many moms, it can bring a whole new level of stress.

Between managing schedules, finding childcare, planning activities, balancing work, and trying to meet everyone’s needs, the pressure can feel overwhelming.

If you’re feeling stretched thin, you’re not alone. This season doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. Give yourself permission to lower the bar, ask for help, and prioritize rest when you can.

A good summer isn’t about doing it all—it’s about making space for what matters most.🌸💜

Midlife can bring big transitions — shifting roles, changing relationships, caregiving, grief, hormonal changes, questions about identity, and the pressure to “hold it all together.”

Women’s mental health during this stage deserves care, compassion, and attention. You do not have to navigate burnout, anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional exhaustion alone.💜🌸
