🚨 Proposed Medicare Changes Could Impact Dermatology Practices & Patient Care — Make Your Voice Heard by September 14

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed changes to the 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule that could reduce reimbursement for certain services performed during the same patient visit.

CMS even used a dermatology visit in its example, showing how an E/M service and certain procedures performed during the same visit could be subject to reduced reimbursement.

⚠️ Why does this matter?

These proposed changes could impact dermatologists, physician associates (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and dermatology practices caring for Medicare patients.

Reduced reimbursement can affect more than the bottom line. It can influence a practice’s ability to:

• Maintain adequate staffing
• Invest in patient-care resources
• Provide efficient, same-day evaluation and treatment
• Keep pace with rising operating costs
• Preserve timely patient access to dermatologic care

Patients benefit when their healthcare providers can evaluate, diagnose, and treat conditions efficiently—often during the same visit. Medicare policy should support that model of care, not create financial disincentives for providing it.

📣 The dermatology community must have a voice in this conversation.

CMS is accepting feedback on the proposed rule through September 14, 2026. We encourage dermatologists, PAs, NPs, practice leaders, and other healthcare professionals to submit feedback to CMS before the deadline and advocate for Medicare policies that protect patient access, fair reimbursement, and sustainable dermatology practices.

Our collective voice matters. Take action before September 14, 2026.

Meet Julie Pfeifle, PA-C, one of our Conference Emcees 🎤✨

Julie is a board-certified Physician Assistant with more than a decade of dermatology experience, caring for patients of all ages — from newborns to older adults. She has
expertise in medical dermatology, skin cancer detection and treatment, surgical procedures, and aesthetic medicine, and is passionate about educating patients on the importance of early skin cancer detection and prevention.

As one of this year’s conference emcees, Julie will be introducing our outstanding lineup of presenters and helping keep the program running smoothly. Her enthusiasm, warmth, and passion for dermatology make her the perfect person to welcome each speaker to the stage. Outside the clinic, Julie enjoys staying active, wake surfing, and spending time on the water with her family. A proud Great Lakes girl, she’s also the busy mom of three young children. We’re thrilled to have Julie helping guide us through an incredible conference!
