Today was a milestone for me. ❤️

I had the honor of presenting at the Amplify OT Summit on something I'm deeply passionate about: functional cognition.

This presentation wasn't just about research or clinical practice. It was about the people I meet every day who look "fine" on the outside but quietly struggle to manage work, family, routines, and everyday life because of changes in how their brain functions.

I hope today's session helps more occupational therapists recognize those challenges earlier and gives them confidence to make an even greater impact.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, prayed for, and supported me along this journey. I'm grateful—and excited for what God is continuing to unfold.

❤️ One presentation finished... Now it's time to keep the conversation going.

I'm excited to share that I'll be presenting at the Amplify Therapy Summit this Saturday, August 1!

🎤 Functional Cognition: The Missing Link in Value-Based Care – Why OT Must Lead

As occupational therapists, we have a unique opportunity to lead the conversation about functional cognition—helping people not just perform tasks, but fully participate in the lives they want to live. I'll be sharing why recognizing cognitive changes earlier and addressing their impact on everyday function is essential for better outcomes and value-based care.

The Amplify Therapy Summit is a virtual event for occupational therapy practitioners, students, faculty, and leaders, with opportunities to earn AOTA-approved CEUs through eligible registration options. Registration is free, and paid passes include CEU certificates and extended access to sessions.

I'd love for you to join me and the many other incredible presenters!

Most people would walk into the waiting room without a second thought.

For someone recovering from a concussion, the noise, movement, and activity can feel overwhelming.

Sometimes the biggest barriers aren't memory or intelligence—they're the everyday environments we expect people to navigate.

Healing isn't just about thinking better. It's about returning to life, one step at a time.

💙 This is why I'm so passionate about helping people understand what's happening and how to move forward.

People ask why I'm so passionate about brain health…

This is why I do what I do.

Not because I love evaluating cognition.

Because I love watching someone go from...
"I thought I was losing myself."

to

"Now I understand what's happening."

Understanding creates confidence. Confidence leads to action. And that's where healing begins.

Has someone ever helped you finally understand something you had been struggling with? I'd love to hear your story.

One of the reasons I'm creating Thrive Function is because so many people tell me they wish someone had explained what was happening sooner.

If you've experienced cognitive changes after cancer treatment, neurological illness, injury, or simply feel like your brain isn't working the way it used to, I'd love to hear your experience.

Mild cognitive changes get missed in rehab for a few big reasons—and it’s not because clinicians don’t care.

It’s often because:
• we prioritize what’s easiest to see and measure
• mild changes are inconsistent (fatigue + stress matter!)
• we don’t have a shared language for functional cognition

If you’ve ever thought,
“I’m noticing something, but I’m not sure how to say it,”
you’re not alone.

Join me **March 12 at 7pm** and I’ll walk you through a clear, practical approach.

Here’s something I see all the time:

People do “fine” in a quiet eval, but struggle in real life.

Mild cognitive changes often show up when life gets more complex—multi-step routines, distractions, fatigue, time pressure… real-world function.

That’s why these changes get missed.

OTs are built for this. We see function in context, and we can lead with confidence.

If this resonates, join me **March 12 at 7pm** for my webinar:

Today I had the opportunity to present to a wonderful group affiliated with Johns Hopkins, focusing on ataxia and cognition.

What stood out most?
Many attendees shared they had never received a cognitive evaluation before—and the realization was eye-opening.

This is exactly why cognition must be addressed across all healthcare roles, not just within one discipline.

Subtle cognitive changes impact daily function, safety, communication, and quality of life.
When we recognize them earlier, we can:
• make appropriate referrals
• support treatment and compensatory strategies
• advocate more effectively
• help people stay engaged in life

My Foundations Course was created with this in mind—for healthcare professionals, survivors, and care partners—so we can all speak the same language and feel more confident identifying, addressing, and supporting cognitive changes and functional participation.

Because thriving requires more than surviving—it requires awareness, action, and support.

Foundations is here — and this is one of the biggest reasons I created it.

When life feels harder after cancer treatment, it’s easy to blame motivation.

But often? It’s not motivation. It’s cognitive load.

3 signs cognitive load is the real problem:
• You can start… but the steps pile up and you stall.
• Switching tasks drains you faster than the task itself.
• You push through—then fatigue and brain fog spike later.

This isn’t laziness. It’s your brain managing a heavy load.
(And as an OT focused on cognitive changes after cancer, I see this all the time.)

If you want support and practical tools, comment FOUNDATIONS and I’ll send the details — or DM me if you’d rather.
