Hope everyone is having a great start to summer! It's been a while since our last update, so we wanted to check in and share some news about the apiary.
With all our kids now graduated, we've decided to scale back to backyard hobbyist beekeeping for the near future. Because of this, we won't have any surplus honey available for sale to the public this year.
We know the spring drought hit honey yields hard for a lot of folks in Wake County, so demand for Tulip Poplar honey may be higher than usual this season — we hope everyone is able to find what they're looking for!

We rendered some of our bees wax cappings this past week and Sam is considering making colonial style taper candles and bee skep candles. Reaching out to our followers to determine interest? These would be 100% handmade beeswax candles, no paraffin wax mixed in. Burns longer, sweet fragrance and purifies the air.

Going to be selling off a couple hives we started from swarms. First one up has a marked queen (white) that has almost filled out the first 10 frame deep. Has capped, open brood and egg frames so new bees will be emerging soon. $195 for the 10 frames and no frame swap.
