Before escalating steroids or advanced therapy, confirm what is driving the symptoms. Infection, functional overlap, medication effects, and structural complications can all resemble an IBD flare. A focused history, stool studies, f***l calprotectin, labs, and therapeutic drug monitoring when appropriate can help guide the right next step.
