People sometimes feel like natural foods are too expensive. There are different reasons for this. It’s true that organic foods require special certifications and, because they are not grown on large commercial farm production and are in less demand, the cost is more. On the other hand, I primarily eat grains, beans and vegetables. A cup of brown rice costs about $1 and cooked yields about 3 cups. Beans are about the same. That’s a pretty inexpensive meal. The catch is that you have to actually cook it. We have a lot of ready-to-eat food which is more expensive and you are paying for the convenience. We also have a lot of items that we like to call “transitional foods”. Things like chips and crackers and cookies with better quality ingredients than you would find in grocery store equivalents. Every month we have a distributor sales flyer that we post on Facebook. This gives customers an opportunity to try out new and fun products at a discounted price for the month - typically 20-30% off.
