✨Heather’s own healing journey through Functional Medicine inspired her to co-create Healthy Connections Hood River with her husband, Dr. Jeff Horacek. Living with Type 1 diabetes since 1997, she brings both lived experience and deep compassion to her work.

✨At Healthy Connections, Heather offers wellness coaching, functional lifestyle education, mindfulness support, and facilitates workshops both in person and online. She’s grateful to call Hood River home and to have built this practice alongside her family and community.

Functional Nutrition Specialist

✨Kirsten joined the Healthy Connections team in 2018 and brings a deeply personalized, root-cause approach to nutrition care. Her work centers on empowering patients with clear, actionable guidance—using food, lifestyle shifts, and targeted supplements to support the body’s natural ability to heal.

✨She has extensive experience supporting digestive concerns including IBS, SIBO, IBD, dysbiosis, and intestinal permeability, and also works closely with individuals experiencing cognitive impairment and early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. While Kirsten is well-versed in many therapeutic nutrition approaches, she believes true healing happens when plans are thoughtfully adapted to each person’s unique needs, sensitivities, and life circumstances.

✨Kirsten’s passion for functional nutrition is personal. After navigating her own health challenges for 25 years and finding life-changing relief through functional medicine, she felt called to shift her career and help others experience the same possibility for healing.

Meet Dr. Amber Cardinalli, D.O

✨She brings over a decade of experience in Internal, Integrative, and Functional Medicine. She’s especially passionate about supporting people with hormone imbalances, cardiometabolic and weight concerns, and digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and IBS.

✨Double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine, Dr. Cardinalli trained on the East Coast before recently relocating to the Hood River area. Her path from hospital-based care to integrative practice was guided by a desire to move beyond symptom management and address root causes for lasting health.

✨Dr. Cardinalli believes deeply in shared decision-making—partnering with patients through evidence-based care while honoring autonomy and individual goals.

✨ 🐾 Outside of medicine, she enjoys creating new recipes, exploring the outdoors with her husband and their dog, Greta, hiking forest trails, and settling in with a good book.
