Plants, herbs, and foods can support hydration in more ways than just “drink more water.”

Some are naturally high in water. Some bring in electrolytes. Some are traditionally used as soothing, moistening herbs. Others simply make water or tea easier to enjoy, which helps you drink more throughout the day.

A few gentle options for hydration support:

Cucumber
High in water content and naturally refreshing.

Coconut Water
Contains electrolytes, especially potassium, making it a popular choice for replenishing fluids.

Lemon and Citrus
Adds flavor, vitamin C, and a bright kick to water or tea.

Hibiscus
Tart, refreshing, and commonly enjoyed as a cooling herbal tea.

Mint
Cooling, crisp, and great for flavoring water, tea, or herbal infusions.

Chamomile
Gentle and calming, often enjoyed as a warm or iced tea.

Fennel
Traditionally used as tea for digestion and bloating.

Marshmallow Root
A mucilage-rich herb traditionally used for moistening and soothing support.

Slippery Elm
Another mucilage-rich herb traditionally used for soothing moisture support.

Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil
Aromatic, refreshing, and commonly enjoyed as herbal tea.

Aloe Vera
Inner leaf gel is traditionally used, but oral aloe should be used carefully.

Hydration support doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like cucumber water, a glass of coconut water, hibiscus tea over ice, or a simple cup of mint and lemon.

Always do your research before introducing into your diet, especially if you have any underlying or pre-existing conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medications.
