While we continue to support the flood response and move toward recovery, our commitment to strengthening the regular programs that build sustainable capacity remains just as strong. One such milestone is the establishment of our second Simulation Lab.

This September, One Heart Worldwide, in collaboration with Madesh Institute of Health Science (MIHS), supported the establishment and strengthening of the Simulation Lab (SLAB) through cosmetic improvements and essential equipment, including manikins.

The Simulation Lab provides a safe learning environment where healthcare providers can practice and strengthen their clinical skills before applying them in real care settings. It helps build confidence and competency, contributing to better quality care for mothers and newborns.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the health workforce and supporting sustainable improvements in the quality of care for mothers and newborns in Nepal.

We are proud to celebrate this important step with MIHS, and we look forward to seeing the Simulation Lab become a center for continuous learning and skill development. One Heart Worldwide continues to support the Government of Nepal and health institutions in strengthening simulation-based learning.

Big news from Nepal: all seven provinces now have a rural obstetric ultrasound training site.

This September, One Heart Worldwide supported the Government of Nepal in opening a new training site in Madhesh Province, the final province needed to reach families nationwide.

At this site, we upgraded the training room, provided equipment and supplies, supplied ultrasound machines, and sent master trainers to support local trainers and managers through the first full round of training.

Ultrasound helps healthcare providers spot risks earlier in pregnancy, so mothers and babies in rural areas get the care they need in time. Here are a few photos from the opening ceremony in Madhesh.

Dr. Anju Karki, Public Health Administrator at the District Public Health Office in Nuwakot, knows the danger is not over.

As she explains, the floods have displaced families who now face serious health risks in crowded shelters, from unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation to gaps in nutrition. And as she warns, the weeks after a flood bring a new threat: the spread of disease.

This is where our team is focused now, working alongside the Government of Nepal not only to meet immediate needs, but to help these communities recover and rebuild in the months ahead.

For three weeks, our team has been on the ground across Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Dhading, reaching families in the hardest-hit corners of the flood zone and working alongside the Government of Nepal at every level.

Getting to these communities has not been easy. Our team has traveled through roads turned to mud and past landslides to reach families who need them. Their dedication and courage have made this response possible.

A week on the ground in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

Since the floods struck, our team has been moving through the hardest-hit communities, delivering what families and health facilities need most: medicines and supplies where the supply chain has broken down, power and fuel to keep hospitals and birthing centers running, food and dignity kits for displaced families, and psychological first aid for survivors carrying the weight of what they have lost.

This work is carried out in close coordination with the Government of Nepal and local partners, in communities we have served for years. It is that long-standing presence that allowed our team to respond quickly when it mattered most.
