Crews Handle Multiple Emergencies

Last night, multiple 911 calls were received within less than five minutes of each other, each reporting separate emergency incidents. Multiple crews were quickly assembled and responded to the scenes, where they successfully treated the patients and transported them to a local hospital. These coordinated efforts reflect the commitment of our members to the safety of our community. Thank you to our hard working crews!

HVAS at HVWFD Open House

Yesterday, Lieutenants Maria and David participated in the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire Department’s annual open house. During the event, they demonstrated our lifesaving equipment and ambulance 311 to those in attendance. Our department appreciates the invitation and values the opportunity to engage with the community at these events.

Member Monday

HVAS is pleased to recognize member and EMT Brie Czarnowsky for Member Monday. Brie has been a part of HVAS for several years and regularly serves on our 911 response crew multiple days each week. She is focused on advancing her EMS career by becoming a Paramedic and is committed to expanding her knowledge to provide the best possible care, learning from every patient and colleague. Outside of her work, Brie is a mother of three young children, who are her pride and joy. She also enjoys playing the piano, a skill she has developed since the age of 13.

Brie had this to say about EMS:

"Being an EMT has taught me that sometimes helping someone isn’t just about treating an injury or illness. It’s about showing up, staying calm in the middle of chaos, listening, and making someone feel like they’re not alone when they need help the most."

Like every member among our ranks, Brie is part of the amazing team that keeps our organization ready to respond, whenever our community needs us.

HVAS to Start MIH

Hope Valley Ambulance is proud to announce that we have been recently approved by the Rhode Island Department of Health to start a Mobile Integrated Health program within our service area. Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) is a community-based program administered by EMS to deploy EMTs and Paramedics into the community to assess and treat patients in non-emergency, planned home visits. This program brings a new, innovative method of healthcare to our community.

After months of coordination and planning, our program will soon take on its first patients. We are currently only accepting referrals from select community health agencies as our program begins. We hope to expand the program soon with further funding, grants, and donations.

Community Training at HVAS

Last night, one of our AHA CPR instructors led a community training course, providing instruction on life-saving CPR and AED skills to local residents. These courses are offered to the public each month at no cost.

These courses are intended for individuals who want to learn current methods for managing life-threatening situations before emergency medical services arrive.

Last night, our new/junior members participated in a truck familiarization training. This allows the personnel to know what the different items are used for and how to better assist other members in equipment retrieval. Thank you to everyone who showed up and to Lt Maria for running the training.

Community Touch-a-Truck Event

Today, Hope Valley Ambulance, Hope Valley Wyoming Fire Department, and Hopkinton Police Department participated in a community Touch-a-Truck event at Whispering Pines Campground. As the summer camping season is in full swing, many campers stopped by to learn about the important role that the police, fire, and EMS agencies play in our community.

Lieutenant Mykhaylyshyn, Captain Yeaw, EMT Czarnowsky, and EMT Smith attended the event, providing campers with firsthand insight into the work our agency does and the equipment we use.
