Research shows 5% of older adults experience depression and this number more than doubles for those who are hospitalized or receiving in home healthcare. And these are only the reported cases (most go undiagnosed). As an occupational therapist I have seen MANY older adults impacted by mental illness yet not receiving the support they need. Our OT services can help older adults by: promoting positive leisure activities and social interactions, addressing physical concerns, providing sensory strategies, implementing cognitive-behavioral strategies and much much more 🤍👵🏼👴🏼 #65+
