Tips to develop your toddler's language at home:

💬 Talk through your day: Describe what you’re doing and what your child is seeing.

🧠Research using advanced imaging like SPECT and PET scans shows that many children with autism have hypoperfusion—reduced blood flow—in several brain areas. These regions are critical for language, sensory processing, social engagement, and emotional regulation.

This reduced flow limits oxygen and nutrients, which can impair how these regions function. Differences in autism biology can make this worse, creating a vicious cycle:
🔄Low blood flow → hypoxia → inflammation → further blood flow reduction.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) may help by increasing oxygen delivery, supporting metabolism, and reducing inflammation—helping the brain function more efficiently.

Let’s talk about speech delay. If you're watching other toddlers chat away while your child stays quiet, we know how frustrating that can be. 💙

Speech delays happen for so many reasons—and most of them have nothing to do with how much you talked to your baby or how many books you read. Sometimes, kids understand everything but have difficulty actually producing speech sounds. The connection between the brain and mouth just isn't flowing the way it should yet.

You can help your toddler develop speech and language at home:
🗣️Talk constantly: Narrate your day, describe what you’re doing, and name objects around you.
📕Read together: Choose age-appropriate books with pictures, textures, and simple words. Ask questions and encourage interaction.
🎤Sing & rhyme: Songs and nursery rhymes help children hear and practice sounds.
🦜Encourage imitation: Repeat sounds and words your child attempts, and model correct pronunciation.
👧🏻Play games: Peek-a-boo, pat-a-cake, or pretend play can encourage communication naturally.
👉Use gestures: Point, wave, or mimic actions to link words with meaning.

As parents, the most important thing is to pay attention. If you notice even small concerns, it’s never too early to seek support.

Let's talk about something most parents have never heard of, but might explain so much of what you're seeing in your child.

Primitive reflexes.

What are primitive reflexes? 🗿Every baby is born with automatic reflexes—like when a newborn automatically grasps your finger or turns their head when you stroke their cheek. These aren't conscious movements; they're survival instincts hardwired into the brainstem.

As the brain matures, these reflexes are supposed to naturally fade. 🙅🏻‍♀️When they remain active longer than expected, they can interfere with development in ways that aren’t always obvious.

Signs to watch for:
⚡ Difficulty with coordination or balance
🖐 Trouble with fine motor skills (holding a pencil, using utensils)
🧠 Struggles with focus, learning, or behavior
🚶 Challenges with crawling, walking, or other movement milestones

The good news? When we identify them early and address them properly, children can make incredible progress. We're talking about real breakthroughs in coordination, focus, learning, and confidence.
