DO's

1. Early stages of your locks, you must keep your locks stretched by using banding method.

2. Separate your locks gently to avoid tangling especially when you are getting closer your retightening appointment and use silk or satin scarfs before bed to avoid your locs from rubbing on your pillow case .

3. Use a good moisturizing spray that doesn't cause build-up in the months to come.

4. If you have a very active lifestyle or you exercise a lot, braid your mini locks into sections and rinse your scalp with water this will help avoid odor. If possible, use a hooded hair dry to insure 100% dry to avoid a musty smell or damp-sweaty smell.

5. Make sure you retie your locks on time. Depending on the size of your locks and how fast your hair grows, try to interlock your new hair growth every 5-7weeks to avoid your locks from thinning, breaking or causing slippage.

Dont's

1. Do not use very thick consistency products designated for loose natural hair (hair that is not loc'd), it is only going to cause build -up / white stains on your locs that will eventually need a natural detox process to remove.

2. Do not compare your journey to anyone else. Your hair is unique and it is best you learn and embrace what works for you. This will help you avoid disappointment and unrealistic expectations.

3. Do not neglect your locs by retightening too far off.

4. Do not choose a locs technicianbecause it's cheaper to be there , but instead look for the quality work they are willing to offer because in the long run it gets expensive when another person needs to redo or undo bad install / maintenance.
