Feel For Lumps Feel For Lumps is established to bring awareness to all women about Breast Cancer. We aim to help women with Breast Cancer get their treatment. Hi!

You are welcome to join us in this cause. You can contact us at 832-626-7791. My name is LaQuentin Jenkins from Simple Choice Insurance Brokerage. I want to share with you my story. In 1976, at the age of 5 my sister developed a lump in her breast. My parents took her to the doctor to be examined. Thankfully, the doctors were able to remove the lump before the cancer spread. Unfortunately, that wa

s not the last time my mother or my sister discovered a lump in my sister’s breast. At the age of 17, my sister was up for the fight of her life--the cancer was back. Once again discovered through self-examination. I can recall stories from my father as he spoke of the experiences of taking my sister for treatment. I could not explain the look on his face as he shared the experience that took place over 30 years ago. I could see the emotions in his eyes. Unfortunately, at this time my father was reflecting on the experience of the past while living with the fact that now his wife and daughter were both fighting cancer at the same time. Yes, my sister, stage 4 - third time, and my mother, stage 2, were both fighting this state of being with cancer at the same time during a pandemic. I can’t explain the emotions of my family as we go through this experience. It’s even more impactful because my father is a cancer survivor, diagnosed and treated at the age of 59, he is now 73. He survived, my grandfather did not. It’s because of these experiences that I am a strong advocate for breast self-examinations. Other forms of discovery are important, but in many cases, they do not detect the lumps in early stages of development. My mother had a mammogram three months before she discovered her cancer through self-examination. I hate to think what would have occurred if she waited another year for her next mammogram to be examined. My sister discovered her cancer for the third time in the shower at the age of 45, she is now 50 still fighting with every ounce of energy she can. As the father of a female only child, age 13, you can imagine my thoughts. Because of these experiences, I wanted to participate in the efforts to make women aware of the importance of self-examinations and creating and maintaining a healthy life style. My goal is to get 1 Million women to do a self-examination before February 4, 2022, my sister’s birthday. I am inviting you to join the cause. I know this will not change my family’s health situation, but if my family’s story could save one life…WOW!
