At this point, I’m not willing to disclose how many Chicken Minis we’ve eaten or how much coffee we’ve consumed this week. Please respect our privacy during this time. 😂☕️ Any one else’s family ADDICTED to Chick fil a? It’s a special kind of joy when I earn enough points for free stuff! I know I’m not alone here, right?!

Josh is in Houston with Hadley for treatment today, and I’m in Lake Charles with Hollyn for her appointment. Hayden has basketball and then gets to go home and spoil the puppy. I think we all know who won today’s scheduling lottery.

We’re also hoping to hear back from neurosurgery about my scans and what comes next. I’d really like a plan.

Please keep praying for Hadley’s treatment to help without knocking her down with side effects, for Hollyn’s appointment, and for some direction on my scans. It’s been a long week, and we’re ready to have everybody back home. 🤍

Y’all!!! Longest….day…ever….

Long story short…
✅New meds added
✅Some old meds changed
✅Some meds stayed the same
✅Pain Management tweaked their plan too.

We were waiting on scan results before Neurosurgery could make their plan. We literally just received my scan results, and unfortunately, the hydrocephalus hasn’t resolved. We’re waiting to hear from neurosurgery about that means and what the next steps will be.

I’m thankful we’re taking steps forward, but I’m tired. Today felt a little like walking in quick sand. I had really hoped the scans would be clear.

Please pray for direction and pray these medication changes will help. Tomorrow, we turn our attention to Hadley’s treatment in Houston and Hollyn’s appointment in Lake Charles and wait to hear our next steps.

Your prayers mean so so much. We will trust. He will provide.

We’re having a crazy week of appointments, scans, labs, and treatments and maybe because we’re a special kind of crazy, we added a new puppy to the chaos….BUT LOOK AT HER!!

We met with endocrinology Monday and are now in Houston for scans and appointments. Today includes hydrocephalus scans and visits with pain management, neurology, endocrinology, and neurosurgery. Tomorrow is Hadley’s treatment in Houston and Hollyn’s appointment in Lake Charles. I will for sure be out of free curse words by the weeks end.

Unfortunately, we’ve also learned that I have Graves’ disease, unrelated to the tumor and likely contributing, along with the hydrocephalus, to how poorly I’ve felt. So, for today, please pray for clear scan results, wisdom as we meet with all these doctors and an effective treatment plan, and relief with minimal side effects for Hadley tomorrow.

For me, the encouraging news is that these are treatable conditions…mostly. My biggest desire is to be able to feel like myself again. I have a puppy to chase and kids to be present for.

We’re grateful for your prayers for our family, our treatments, and maybe a little puppy training help too.

Coffee….hydrocephalus…more scans…OH MY!!!

So, it’s Hydrocephalus for the win….

Just kidding. No one wins with that one. 😂

Scan update: I’ve developed significant hydrocephalus since my last scan. We don’t have a great explanation yet for why it’s happening, but by the grace of God, my neurosurgeon did not remove my VP shunt when I asked him to. Turns out, I did still need it anyway. 😬

So, we adjusted my shunt settings today. The Hydrocephalus does explain a large portion of the symptoms I’ve been dealing with lately. I haven’t felt well for awhile. In a strange way, I’m grateful to have an answer…makes me feel a little less crazy. It doesn’t explain everything, though, so we’ll continue working through the rest. We will see if seizures are to blame for any of the other symptoms too.

Brain tumors know how to party!

So, for now:

Appointments scheduled with my neurologist/epilepsy specialist ✔️
Continuing to look for answers ✔️

Not exactly the scan results we were expecting, but there is a lot to be grateful for. Hydrocephalus wasnt on anyone’s radar. Even he was surprised BUT we have an explanation for some of the symptoms. We already had a shunt in place to treat it. And we have a plan moving forward. THANK YOU LORD!

So, we are surprised and thankful and relieved. Pray we can get this resolved quickly and find the other answers we’re looking for. What a weird day….We will trust. He will provide.

It’s scan day….

I’ve been having some symptoms we’re working to sort out. It’s the fun game you play when you live with a brain tumor… Is it residual damage from the previous three surgeries, or is it new symptoms related to new tumor growth?!?! It’s like a wicked game of Whac-A-Mole! (Any ’80s or ’90s kids out there?!?!) Back then, the game was fun. Now, not so much. 😅

Scan days always come with some anxiety and heaviness, I terrified of the day we do scan and he says we have to go back in for more surgeries. BUT Josh and I have decided we’re just going to pretend it’s a date day. With three kids, we’ll take what we can get. 😂 Coffee, time together…and an MRI. Very romantic.

As I was walking out the door this morning, Hollyn handed me this ring she made especially for today as a reminder of her prayers. 🥹 I am blessed far more than I deserve with these little people of mine.

We’re trusting and praying for great results, answers for the symptoms, and little to no tumor growth.

We made it home from treatment and Hadley is recovering. This was my view most of the day. Hadley slept, Hollyn made her own little nest as she called it and I caught up on work. Hadley has spent most of the past few days in bed but has felt up to joining us some in the afternoons. Usually the first three days after treatment are the hardest so tomorrow she should feel better!

God was so gracious to carry us and meet us right where we were. Tired, exhausted and a little grumpy! Good is good. We continue to lean into Him. Thank you for your prayers! We will trust, He will provide!

Treatment day. 💙

Both girls are with me today, which means this mama is officially outnumbered.

Two trips to Houston in three days…that’s a lot yall. If I’m being honest, spread thin and exhausted feels like an understatement. I forgot the snack bag (rookie move) but we are carrying meds, chargers, blankets, all the feelings, salty attitudes (mostly from mom) and a desperate need for coffee. Whew, Jesus be near.

If you think of us today, would you pray?

Pray for smooth treatment, steady hearts, minimal side effects, strength for these sweet girls, patience for all of us, and safe travels home.

We always try to keep it real here….some days feel hard and heavy. Today is one of those days. God has never failed to meet us in waiting rooms, infusion centers, hospital hallways, or on long drives home. His faithfulness doesn’t change just because we’re tired. Aren’t you so thankful?!?! We know He will meet us here.

Good news!! 🙌

Overall, today’s appointment went really well! There were a couple of incidental findings that we’ll keep an eye on, but nothing that changes the big news…

Hayden is cleared to get back to doing what he loves! 🏀

Honestly, we’re considering these incidents the Lords provision. We found some things we need to monitor and wouldn’t have known about otherwise. He goes before us, doesn’t He?!

He’ll be rocking a heart monitor for the next week so they can gather a little more information, and we’ll meet back with the cardiologist to go over those results. Due to some findings on the Echo, he has earned himself a continued relationship with this Cardiologist. Good thing he’s fantastic! For now, we’re just thankful.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed, checked on him, and encouraged us over the last week. We don’t take it for granted.

God is good, and today we’re celebrating some really good news. ❤️

(And if you’ve talked to Hayden in the last hour…you already know he’s very excited. 😄)

Welp, this wasn’t on the BINGO card….

Most of you know we have a 15 year old son, Hayden. We don’t post much on here about him out of respect for him and his desire to just be a teen, who is nearly 16. BUT we do have his FULL permission to share what’s going on.

So, if you don’t know him, this is Hayden. He is our calm, steady, witty and incredibly intentional 15-year-old. He's wise beyond his years and quietly disciplined in nearly everything he does. He is far better than me at both cooking and parking. He also has a wicked dry wit that will make you laugh at the most inopportune moments, he’s not always the best person to sit next to in a serious situation but if you need just about anything else, he is your guy!

So, now that you have met him…

We’d certainly appreciate your prayers. Last week during basketball camp, he had a pretty concerning episode. He pushed through but never fully recovered. After talking to him we began to realize similar symptoms had actually been happening for a while. Out of an abundance of caution, we took him to his P*P, where an EKG showed some concerning findings. He was immediately referred to Texas Children's Cardiology and told he had to stop all strenuous activities until we could get to the bottom of it.

We'll be in Houston Tuesday for further testing and to get established with his cardiologist.

If you know Hayden, you know how much he loves basketball. He's worked incredibly hard all summer, so having everything put on hold just a few hours into basketball camp has been hard. And we will be honest, it’s certainly unexpected and a little scary, at moments…A LOT scary.

We don't have many answers yet. We are looking at more unknowns that knowns. Some of those unknowns are scary. Pray we can do the next step in front of us, trust the Lord, and let Him provide exactly what we need for each day.

If you would pray for wisdom, clear answers, peace for Hayden, and guidance for his medical team, we'd be so grateful. Maybe even pray we show up and they say ITS NOTHING GO HOME!!!! A momma can dream right?!?!
