Your fasting glucose can be normal while your insulin is telling a completely different story. 👇🏻
That’s why looking at glucose alone may leave an important piece of your metabolic health unseen.
In this carousel, we break down four different patterns you may see when looking at fasting glucose and fasting insulin together, including what it can mean when:
✨ Both are in a healthy range
✨ Glucose is normal but insulin is elevated
✨ Both glucose and insulin are elevated
✨ Fasting insulin looks normal, but PCOS/PMOS symptoms persist
For women with PCOS/PMOS, that last one matters too. A normal fasting result doesn’t always rule out an exaggerated post-meal insulin response, which is why an OGTT with insulin may sometimes provide additional information.
The goal is to understand the whole metabolic picture, not just wait for blood sugar to become abnormal.
