🌟 Student Spotlight: Gabbie McDaniel 🌟
Meet Gabbie McDaniel, a medical student at Baylor College of Medicine who is concurrently pursuing her Master of Public Health (MPH) at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Gabbie is working at the cutting edge of global health equity, implementation science, and digital health innovation!
🔬 The Research
Gabbie is currently involved in critical implementation science research evaluating the clinical integration of AI-assisted high-resolution microendoscopy (HRME).
-The Technology: HRME is a groundbreaking, low-cost imaging technology developed to drastically improve the early detection of esophageal precancer and invasive cancer.
-The Mission: When caught early, survival rates for esophageal cancer dramatically increase. HRME offers a point-of-care, real-time "optical biopsy" that can eliminate the need for expensive, resource-intensive tissue biopsies.
-Gabbie's Role: Her work focuses directly on evaluating the human and systemic factors of technology adoption. She is exploring the unique qualitative perspectives of physicians, nurses, health administrators, and patients across clinical trial sites in both the United States and Brazil.
