International Federation of Fertility Societies The IFFS promotes research, education, and superior clinical care in global reproductive health. Twe

International co-operation and dialogue in the field of fertility and sterility can be said to have truly commenced in 1951 in Rio de Janeiro with the formation of the International Fertility Association (IFA). Eminent scientists from various parts of the world became members and triennial World Conferences in Fertility and Sterility were organized. in 1968, the IFA underwent restructuring and the

IFFS was born. Membership has grown and at present, over sixty National Fertility Societies are affiliated. It is estimated over 50,000 specialists worldwide concerned in the areas of fertility and sterility are brought together under one umbrella organization. As part of its educational outreach, each year IFFS conducts workshops in selected cities in underdeveloped countries, sponsors a Symposium in its International Series on topics of regional concern, and every three years holds a World Congress hosted by a national fertility society from within the federation.

Where you're born shouldn't decide whether you can build a family. But too often, it does.

Fertility laws, public funding and treatment access differ dramatically from one country to the next. IFFS is working to change that — through the Tokyo Declaration and the More Joy campaign, calling on governments and employers worldwide to make fertility care equitable and accessible.

This is where the global community comes together: the IFFS 2027 World Congress, Brisbane, 18–21 April 2027.

1 in 6 people worldwide will face infertility at some point in their lives - according to the World Health Organization (WHO) — yet for most, it's still something whispered about, not talked about.

This Infertility Awareness Month, IFFS is working to change that: raising awareness, pushing for education, and calling on governments and companies to make fertility care accessible to the people who need it.

Because choosing whether and when to have a child is a human right — and that right means little without access to care.

Join our More Joy campaign and help us carry this forward to the 26th IFFS World Congress in Brisbane, 2027. 🌏

Meet Louise Joy Brown — the world's first IVF baby, born in 1978.

In this short message, she holds a signed poster of "Joy," the Netflix film telling the true story of the pioneers who made her birth possible: nurse and embryologist Jean Purdy, scientist Robert Edwards, and surgeon Patrick Steptoe. The film takes its name from Louise's own middle name.

Their breakthrough has helped millions build families. But this June — Infertility Awareness Month — 1 in 6 people still face infertility, and millions can't access the care they need.

That's why IFFS launched : to advance global access to fertility care. Watch, then please share. 💚
