Our goal is to bridge the healthcare gap, connecting those who have with those who hope. Over $9 billion of medical supplies are discarded each year in the United States. As medical technologies advance, outmoded (but perfectly good) equipment and supplies gather dust in hospital storage rooms across the nation. At the same time, people all over the world are suffering and dying because their community urgently needs these life saving tools. In 1997 Dr. Patricia Brock decided to do something about the waste. On a medical mission to El Salvador, she was struck by the country’s lack of basic medical supplies. Upon returning to Houston, Dr. Brock, and a group of concerned individuals, established a recycling program to channel unused medical equipment and supplies (everything from MRI machines to bandages) to qualified healthcare providers who desperately needed them.

Before a box becomes care, it passes through many hands.

This year, we wanted our gala guests to do more than hear about the work of Medical Bridges; we wanted them to step inside it.

The evening brought our mission to life through a recreated sort room, a staged clinic, and scenes reflecting how medical equipment and supplies move from our Houston warehouse into the hands of healthcare professionals around the world.

It was a glimpse into the careful work behind every shipment: receiving, sorting, preparing, connecting and, ultimately, serving.

Last night, we invited our guests to step into the work.

At this year’s One People One World Gala, a recreated sorting room and staged clinics helped bring Medical Bridges’ mission into view; from preparing medical supplies for shipment to equipping healthcare professionals caring for communities around the world.

These first glimpses capture an evening of connection, discovery, and generosity.

We were honored to celebrate Jeanna Bamburg, FACHE, CHT , whose warmth, presence, and commitment to global health shone throughout the evening.

To Gidget Swift, our Events and Special Projecrs Manager, thank you for taking the lead and helping bring this experience to life. To our Medical Bridges team and volunteers, thank you for the thought, care, and work behind every detail.

Meet our 2026 One People One World Gala honoree, Jeanna Bamburg, FACHE, CHT, Chief Executive Officer of The Woman's Hospital of Texas.
With more than 30 years of hospital leadership experience, Jeanna brings a deep commitment to advancing women's health, supporting healthcare teams, and creating exceptional experiences for patients and families.
That commitment extends throughout Houston. Through her leadership of March of Dimes and American Heart Association campaigns, she has helped lead teams that raised more than $4 million to support their missions.

At Medical Bridges, we recognize the connection between strong healthcare leadership and our own work; helping dedicated professionals access the equipment and supplies they need to care for their communities.

From Houston to Rwanda, a shared commitment of care.
