A letter from Dr. Whitley:
Dear Vital Family,
Many of you didn’t know that I was keeping a little secret close to my heart. On Monday, June 1st I was just over 14 weeks pregnant with a surprise baby blessing.
And on Monday, after going into labor too early, I delivered that baby boy earth side although his soul was already in Heaven.
I pray protection over you if you’re pregnant and reading this. May the Holy Spirit show my heart and my story only.
As many of you know too well, the hollowing loss of a baby at any point is the ultimate challenge of stability in all forms - emotionally, spiritually, physically, relationally and so much more.
I am eternally grateful for .abbey_bennett stepping up to support the office during this time.
Unfortunately, I had not planned to be postpartum until December. However, my body is very much showing me that I am recovering after birth and my mind and heart are grieving the loss of my baby even more.
You all know I love each and every one of you to the depths of my being. Every one of your faces and the sweet sounds of your babies in the office make my day, every day. I want to be with you and you deserve all of me.
However, I’m going to be taking another week to grieve and recover physically before returning to serve you.
I know many of you understand this pain and for those of you who don’t, I pray you never do.
My plan is to return to the office on June 16th. As you all know, integrity is one of my core values and I need to fully recover postpartum just as I would recommend you do. That being said, if I physically am unable to return by then, you will be contacted.
In the meantime, I please ask that you keep as many regularly scheduled appointments as you can. You all know I trust Dr. Abbey with my first baby, Vital. I know you’re in the best hands with her.
For those of you who want to reach me, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I am checking it intermittently. Although time in my world has stopped, it has not for the rest of the world.
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for being the best part of the Vital Family.
See you soon!
Dr. W
