We offer unique opportunities to UHCOP students to learn about health-system pharmacy and prepare for post-graduate residency training!

UH Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists is the student chapter of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists (TSHP), and the Gulf Coast Society of Health System Pharmacists (GCSHP). Our local chapter is nationally recognized by ASHP due to all our wonderful events and members! Our organization represents areas outside the tradit

ional (retail) pharmacy environment. These areas include but are not limited to: clinical pharmacy, inpatient and outpatient clinics, hospital pharmacy administration, home infusion, academia, managed care, long-term care facilities, health maintenance organizations, etc.

•SSHP Clinical Skills Competition•

The SSHP Clinical Skills Competition is a great opportunity to test your clinical knowledge, strengthen your problem-solving skills, and build your CV. Compete locally for the chance to advance to the national competition at ASHP Midyear. Open to all P1–P4 students. Grab a partner and put your clinical skills to the test!

🌱Mayor’s Back to School Fair🌱

This past weekend our team had the opportunity to serve at this year’s MB2SF! We had such a great time connecting with the community and getting a chance to teach students and parents about pharmacy. Our team taught medication safety, what a healthy plate looks like, and let kids try on white coats! We are so proud of all our members that attended and hope to be back next year!

✨GCSHP Game Night✨

All pharmacists, technicians, residents, students and pharmacy staff are invited to GCSHP’s Annual Game Night (formerly Casino Night) taking place on July 23rd from 6 to 9 PM at St. Arnold’s Brewery! We are continuing our annual tradition with a variety of board games and activities - including Codenames, Jenga, Monopoly Deal, Co****le, and Karaoke - just to name a few!

Grab a friend and come eat, drink, and socialize with your Houston-area pharmacy colleagues. This is a great way to network with fellow pharmacists, residents and students - especially for those who are new to the Houston area!

✨ CompassRN Healthcare Careers Camp ✨

Last week our students had the opportunity to volunteer at ‘s one-day camp where middle school and high school students came to learn about careers in healthcare! We are so grateful we got to share our pharmacy experiences and hopefully inspire the next generation of healthcare workers!

Yesterday our chapter had the opportunity to attend the 21st GCSHP Residency Graduation! Thank you to our members who volunteered at the event!

What an amazing opportunity to serve and recognize the hard work of all the residents in the Greater Houston Area! Congratulations to all the residents who graduated yesterday! 🎉

This program is designed to support students on their journey through pharmacy school by matching them with a practicing pharmacist from the state chapter. This is open to all rising P2-P4’s (all of you!) and a great opportunity to make new connections, build confidence, and foster professional growth.

Matches will be sent to all participants via the email provided in your application. If you do not receive your match email by July 30 or have questions, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

SSHP GM #4 🤩🎉👏

Thank you to everyone who came to our last general meeting of the semester! Students were able to hear and learn from Dr. Kajohna Davis on her career path and life as an emergency medicine pharmacist! We hope you all enjoyed our general meetings this semester and we cannot wait to see y’all for more in the fall!
