Absolem's House of Voodoo proudly stands with the LGBTQIA2S+ community during Pride Month and EVERY DAY.
Our tradition views sexual orientation and gender identity as natural expressions of divine creation. We honor the Lwa, including Erzulie Freda and Erzulie Dantor, as sacred patrons, protectors, and fierce defenders of q***r individuals and marginalized voices.

Unlike many mainstream faiths, Voodoo—rooted in West African traditions and syncretic practices—has never been a fertility-based religion, meaning there is no religious mandate or pressure for procreation. We recognize identity as a fundamental part of how God makes a person. Our spiritual traditions fully embrace gender fluidity. Spirits within the tradition possess a wide spectrum of characteristics: some are androgynous, some are dual-gendered, and many exhibit clear q***r behaviors. In our temples, everyone is treated with respect regardless of their orientation, making our practice a profoundly unjudgmental refuge and spiritual home.

At the heart of this acceptance is the Erzulie pantheon, which represents divine forces of love, beauty, passion, and fierce protection. The spirits within this family take particular care of the LGBT community:
