Hello friends and family! My friend, Jill Jacobs, Executive Director, National Association of the Councils on Developmental Disabilities, has been invited to speak at the White House. The event will take place 18 June 2024 at 1:30 Eastern.

This will be a public event, and will be livestreamed for everyone to watch.

The event is a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Olmstead decision. This 1999 Supreme Court decision set the stage for people with disabilities to live at home instead of institutions. Yes, you read that correctly. It was not until 1999 that it was required that people with disabilities must be given a choice to live in the community instead of a facility.

Please mark your calendars to join her for this wonderful and informative event. It would mean so much to her (and me) if you would be there virtually with Jill.

This will be a very people-friendly event; not too much policy talk. It will be focused on real people telling stories about their real lives.

You do not have to be a 'politics person' or a 'disability person' to be there. YOU live in the community, and we want YOU to understand how important this landmark decision was and celebrate with us.
