We’re proud to highlight an important publication led by Dor Lotan, MD, and co-authored by Leslie Cooper, MD—two esteemed members of our Board of Directors.
Their article, “Navigating the Spectrum of Inflammatory Myocardial and Pericardial Syndromes: A Contemporary Approach to Diagnosis and Management,” offers valuable insights into the evolving understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of these complex cardiovascular conditions.
This work reflects their continued commitment to advancing education, awareness, and patient care in the field of inflammatory heart disease.

We were honored to participate in the Humble ISD Summer Family Resource Fair last week as part of the district’s commitment to community health and wellness. It was a meaningful opportunity to educate families and raise awareness about myocarditis.
One moment that truly stood out was meeting a mother whose 19-year-old son was recently diagnosed with pericarditis and concerns of myocarditis. She was grateful to connect with us, share her story, and gather information to better support her son. Moments like these remind us why awareness and education matter so much.

Another highlight of Myocarditis Awareness Month in Virginia!

We are deeply thankful to Governor Spanberger for recognizing April as Myocarditis Awareness Month in Virginia, in memory of Lillie Hall, daughter/granddaughter of one of our donors, Teri Elie. Lillie’s light continues to shine through this important awareness.

The month of April is Myocarditis Awareness Month in Texas and now in Virginia!! Virginia has officially recognized April as Myocarditis Awareness Month - now and every year moving forward. This meaningful resolution, introduced by Delegate Cliff Hayes and passed unanimously by the Virginia General Assembly, helps bring much needed awareness to this often overlooked condition. We’d like to honor the memory of a donors son, Mason, who tragically passed away from myocarditis in 2019. In the summer of 2019, Mason Hackworth was a rising junior at Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, Va where he was a member of the National Honor Society and the International Thespian Society. He loved playing his guitars, singing and playing video games. Unfortunately, on August 6, 2019, Mason died unexpectedly from Myocarditis.

Proud to introduce Merrily, another 2026 NYC Marathon runner!

I’m honored to be running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon with the Myocarditis Foundation in memory of my husband, Patrick. After his diagnosis with Giant Cell Myocarditis in 2014, we began a journey filled with resilience, love, and purpose. Thanks to the Foundation, we gained knowledge, support, and 10 more beautiful years together. We lost Patrick last year, but his spirit continues to inspire me every day.
I’m running to raise awareness, support research, and help other families facing this disease. Let’s keep hearts beating strong—together.
If you’re able, please consider supporting this cause. Every step I take is for Patrick.

Merrily Welch runs the 2026 NYC Marathon in honor of her husband Patrick, raising awareness and funds for myocarditis research and support.

Exited to announce another runner. Meet Kyle!

This November, I’ll be running the 2026 New York City Marathon in honor and memory of my son, Quinn, who we lost to myocarditis at just 8 years old. I’m proud to run alongside my son Connor as we support the Myocarditis Foundation and continue to raise awareness for this devastating disease.
In Quinn’s honor, our community in Edina has come together for 13 years through Quinn’s Cup Hockey Tournament—helping fund research and bring awareness to myocarditis. Running the marathon is another meaningful step in that mission.
We’ve set a goal to raise $5,000 by race day (Nov 1), and every donation makes a difference. Thank you for your support!

Running the 2026 NYC Marathon in memory of Quinn, we’re raising $5,000 for the Myocarditis Foundation to support research, awareness, and families impacted.

Running the 2026 NYC Marathon with purpose!
I’m honored to run on behalf of the Myocarditis Foundation alongside my dad, Kyle, in memory of my brother Quinn, who we lost in 2013. This journey is deeply personal, and I’m proud to raise awareness for a disease that impacts so many families.
I’ve set a goal to raise $5,000 by race day (Nov 1), and every donation helps support research, resources, and hope for those affected.
Thank you for being part of this with me!

Running the 2026 NYC Marathon in honor of my brother Quinn, I’m raising $5,000 for the Myocarditis Foundation to support research, awareness, and families affected by this disease.
