Two things I hear constantly from aging clients: “One day I’ll just wake up in my 60s and things won’t work the way they used to.” And: “I’m starting to feel those aches and pains everyone talks about.”

Both are true. But underneath them is a story about loss — and loss is what makes us look away from our own aging instead of paying attention to it.

What if the ache isn’t just aging? What if it’s the body asking for something it hasn’t been getting?

And what if getting older isn’t a loss of what we could do — but a change in what actually matters to us?

If this resonates, I’m exploring it further in a class at the Jung Center, Thursday, Sept 10th from 12–1:30pm — link in bio.

Movement, Relationship, and Conscious Aging: Movement as a Pathway for Awareness and Meaning

A free online lunch and learn with the Jung Center The Jung Center of Houston and Community for Conscious Aging. Thursday, September 10th. Sign up via link in bio.

Over the course of a lifetime, movement shapes far more than physical capacity. It influences how we adapt to change, relate to others, and remain engaged with the world as our bodies and lives evolve.

Movement in later life is often framed around maintenance or the prevention of decline. When held too narrowly, physical practice can lose its capacity to invite curiosity, creativity, and meaning.

This session explores what becomes possible when movement is approached as an ongoing practice of awareness, relationship, and meaning — at any age.

Thursday, September 10th
12:00–1:30pm
Free Zoom session

This will be followed by a five-week experiential movement series with the Jung Center — starting Tuesday, September 22nd, 12–1:30pm. Weekly.

We’ve all been given stories about our bodies. Some of them help us, and many of them hold us back, telling us that we can’t or shouldn’t. That we’re not enough, or we’re too much. That they need to be a certain way or that if they’re not perfectly aligned, you’re screwed.

While we can’t change what we’ve been given, we can reorient ourselves to it. And for me, that starts with awareness. Very simple. But not easy.

What stories have you been taught to believe about your body, and how might they be holding you back?

If you resonate with what I’ve said above, but you’re unsure what to do to challenge your stories, get in touch with me to see if my evening classes on Monday and Wednesday would be a good fit. 530-645pm.

If you feel so inclined, post a story in the captions. I find time and time again that the more we share, the more we recognize that we are not alone.
